Sure but you can only get contracts once every 12 hours right, so it’s just a crap shoot. You’re asking new players to have patience and wait till they get the right roll before they play.

Also while I agree with buying a franchise being great, you’re also raising the barrier of entry from “Make an account and try it out.” To “Pay $12 each to try it out.” Its like dipping your toe in to see if the water vs. just jumping straight in. Keeping that barrier of entry low lets people in, and then after a season or two if they decide they like it they convert into a franchise owner.

…or maybe they don’t but make a bunch of players. Either way Bort makes $$$ and the game is healthier. But if you leave players that just want to try it out, or only make players, or only play on CPU teams without options, they’re more likely to leave.

You can get a non franchise for 500 flex. its not as good but a cheaper option to start with just a few dots each.

Ok, lower barrier of entry, but what about the people that aren’t interested in owning a team? As the ownership model moves more towards Franchise are those people suppose to play on messed up CPU teams or leave?

It seems like the core user of GLB2 is the owners, and that makes sense. And you should always try to retain your core. But there was a point where there could be owners, and players, and both needed each other. Now with franchise owners don’t need players, in fact it’s probably better if they don’t use human players because running a franchise allows you to tailor it all to your exact plans.

But then what about the players that weren’t interested in owning a team?

I understand your statement fully. Question for you, would you have more fun enjoying the game with a friend on a team even if its just you two with like 4 dots you could use more? I agree the franchise model did take away from a lot of ability for newer people to see everything to a level. I was just thinking of ways for you guys to get into it more together and enjoy rather than sit on a cpu team since it is hard to get cpu worked out too.

If you guys got a team I would be more than happy to help you guys learn builds and some playcalling if you would like help with that.

For me personally I'm not sure. I owned a few teams pre-datapocolypse and found it rough just because of the time commitment. I wanted to do a good job but didn't have the time to commit to it. I've kept toying with owning a team again, just not sure how much I can commit to it. If I do though I'll be sure to take you up on it!

I'm just advocating for different play styles. I think GLB has so much to offer and the player side of things is under utilized. Ownership is the core player base and absolutely has to be the focus. And the goal should be to convert people that like to make dots into owners. But supporting different ways to play is always good.

I’m debating on sticking with the basic team ownership. In the future, if active and up for build collaboration (to help make sure it’s a fitting build but still your player), I can likely work with you and run a team that you guys could join.
It’s just that it will be about 2-3 seasons before my team is ready to reset and do that.
Interested in working together to test what you guys want in the meantime? We can start communication at any point. Also, regardless of working with me or not. Listen to as much Vet advice as you can it will make a difference.
