The fact that we can build our own stars now though should lead to users finding opportunities to use their star points & free player spots for other teams.

You can now run your own team without the financial burden, and link up with other players to create new (cheaper) star teams.

Yeah, this allows for more freedom for non-franchise teams as well since people have free players and S*s to use on those. Excellent move.

Soooo I understand the S* meter won't go down, but what if I have no S* points for a tier 2 S*? If I become a franchise owner can I still make those players?

Yeah, it doesn't use super star points at all

A franchise owner can make any kind of player for 'free' at any time (including S* that aren't unlocked via the meter). Even if your franchise team is over the salary cap, you can still make free franchise players that just sit in your players list unsigned.

Check out the roster for my team, I only had one 'traditional' S* available when I started making players.
