Bots are designed to talk to frameworks they recognize in order to quickly and easily set up an account - look for a random fairly active post, and post in it - then move on searching for more sites that use the same basic frameworks in order to do the same. They can work for pennies per day and spam thousands of messages in hopes that a few might get clicks - they may also be getting paid by driven click so they can just hope that people are curios enough to look at a fairly harmless looking link.

It's not an effective way, but a cheap way.
