Here shows Cover Expert firing on a day 1 free PUP FS with no SP spent at all.

3-3-5 MLB Cloud has FS in zone coverage.

Means that it may be quite viable on deeper passes at the very least as it can aid with closing those gaps.

Nice! That's a great pick up for zone then.

I can tell you that trying to play Zone with CPU players is painful
Oh well, at least I will learn a lot of lessons for next season.

CPU players are usually painful no matter what you use, lol

I personally do not believe cov. tech is all that useful in man defense either to be honest. Until receivers are able to head fake and burn down the field creating enough separation to regularly get long gains, it will continue to be a limited skill. Sometimes a receiver will head fake and the brief pause by the DB is actually helpful for the defender as it puts him in a trailing position and in position to get a PD or failed CIT roll for the receiver as opposed to running to far past the receiver and not getting back to where the receiver stopped in time to be involved in the play.

I hardly put any points into it if any at all, for man defense or zone.

I have built my zone defense around creating turnovers, especially interceptions and it has worked well thus far. Bend, don't break and force a lot of turnovers. I don't believe in coverage tech, so I don't invest in it.

Here's my S* LB. He had 22 interceptions last season as a sophomore and already has 20 this season through 15 games.

Zone can definitely work if you have a good vision, build for that vision and call the right plays.

He runs a ton of tiger 3 blitz and OLB blitz 2. Really fast LBs blitzing from outside.. Either get sacks and FF or force hurried passes and INTs

I tested some different plays but ended up sticking with only a few formations and putting the right guys in the right places. I was blitzing 100% in early tiers but have been able to drop back in coverage more lately. If not blitzing, the defensive line needs to create pressure quick in order to stop the opposing receivers from finding holes in coverage for wide open catches.

Hmm. I'm considering a 2nd team for season 40 and if I do, I want to do a zone blitz defense. I just have no idea what plays to use and without GE's data figured it'd be a random guesses for awhile.

This at least gives me hope.

What about star factor? IS zone def valid without stars? U CAN make dominant def with 1 or 2 stars. Can U make zone with such number or U need more?

i have done a zone defense before. When we got good pressure, we dominated. the key for us was like rob said having people in the right places and the dline had to get fast pressure. We almost solely focused on pass rushing skills after rookie season. During rookie season we were able to get run defense to decent numbers and blitz every play. after that we had to focus on pass defense stuff.

what about heavy inside runs? It seems to be a problem for zone.

most of the time the linebackers are heavy hitters. So if they keep running up the middle at some point your defense will force a fumble. So as long as your offense is consistent then you will stay ahead.
