Like, I mean, I don't know what to say to that. We don't get to handpick who sees the ads. We are also aware that our tiny budget isn't going to be enough to make an impression on every Facebook user.

Still surprised you've not looked at updating the forum since its a social game.

Also small/midsized corporations advertising on here makes too much sense.

Plus login for your homepage really should have the facebook "log in with facebook" option.

We did update the forum, years and years ago. Then all of our users threw a fit about change, so we had to revert it.

Change is hard for people.

Lazy owner tools to promote more activity in team specific forums would be a plus.

If you had active user demographics from FB thats a pretty easy marketing tool.

Not trying to crack your cannoli just trying to be helpful in terms of expanding the user base. Its still a unique game in a niche market that has lots of appeal.

Cdog, what groups are you targeting in your FB ads? Just out of curiosity. Have you aimed at people who maybe like video games, Madden, NFL, any of the following? I gotta believe that some of these Fantasy guys would jump on this. I know there are already multi abusers out there that take advantage of referral system but maybe up the anti from 50 flex as well. Also have you targeted select locations? Maybe even aim at college towns so that the ad wont cost as much?

I dont use FB too much for my local business but when i do i get decent results but what you do and what I do are two completely different things, but I'm betting we have some of the same demographic.

With the increase of mobile apps you have an opportunity there if the budget allows, I thought you guys did one years ago but not sure. I'm willing to be there are at least a handful of us that would be willing to help you guys if you let us. Maybe not with app building but a joint marketing campaign.

I do think this game is ripe for a port to a full app. Just an expansion of the mobile site that includes the graphical bells and whistles of the desktop version. I like that I can log into the game on phone or desktop as I happen to have time, but I think turning the mobile site into its own app as a way to play the game would go a long way.

Wouldnt a complete mobile app require a different version of the replays? The current replays take up a lot of memory it seems. Sometimes crashes my browser.

Yeah, no. There's literally thousands of new apps added every day. The marketplace offers zero visibility to new apps, and the only way to get any kind of traction is million dollar marketing budgets (as we have covered) or one in a billion chance that someone of influence finds it.

Viper , thats why I was suggesting the small business route to him before. My wife has an online toy company primarily geared towards collectors rather than kids and I'm betting the demographics overlap quite a bit. If the price was right other small businesses sponsoring franchises just seems like too much of a gimme. If nothing else the cross-node google ranking and positioning would probably make the ad dollars worth the risk ..again if the price was right.

I'm not in marketing so I know nothing about advertising costs. But I'll throw some suggestions out there anyway.

Fantasy football podcasts? Sponsoring YouTube personalities? There are a ton of niche gaming channels with a few thousand dedicated subscribers, I can imagine their fees are outrageous.

How did current players find out about this game?

I believe in the product, there's nothing quite like it. Just gotta get a few hundred people to give it a try. It's fairly expensive to get into in a big way, perhaps some kind of flex incentives for new accounts?

Mostly from referrals and social buzz about it. Back in 2008-2010.

In the meantime, referral links have become a thing of embarrassment, and browser games have become known as stupid brainless games like Farmville. We couldn't even get GLB2 mentioned on most gaming sites at release (and still can't). Our shitty mobile games were immediately listed with no input from us...I mean that generated little traffic in itself, but it's a good indicator of how serious the gaming community takes browser games.

The industry is way, way over browser games. Companies like Zynga took the market, twisted it, then did vile, unspeakable things to it around 2012. At this point the entire thing is basically radioactive. Which is quite a shame, because I absolutely love working on our browser games.

I heard about it from a guy on a Miami dolphins forum I go to. Ive never seen an add on facebook from GLB but I have posted about it and have done so on several dolphins forums too.
