That’s a pile of sacks. What tier? If vet I want to see your build

Edit: just saw he’s rookie.....I’d bet those numbers fall through each tier. If I’m wrong let me know. Those are still really damn good numbers

This season he'll probably be at around 100 sacks, 180 hurries in soph

After having built guys through many seasons seems like sack guys loose effectiveness in pro and especially vet. I spent less sp this time on getting sacks and more on run defense. Didn’t seem worth it to put so many sp on 1 or 2 sacks a game. Better to spend that sp on run defense, pass deflection, intimidation......heart and toughness. Just in pro now haven’t gotten everything where i want it yet will see next season how it pays off.

Don't disagree that it's harder to get sacks at pro/vet

My sack LBs aren't meant to do anything more than bring pressure on the QB. Having one sack specialist on a team, even at Vet, is definitely worth the cap space.

What exactly happens to a QB when he gets hurried?

Maybe I’m wrong but having built pass rush DE’s and LB’s in the past once they get to vet no matter how much they are built to rush the passer against good teams they dont get many sacks......pass deflections But not enough sacks to justify all those sp. rather go with rush defense and pass rush deflection.

Which is one reason why I would never spend a S* player on a pass rushing LB.

It's put him under pressure, forces him to throw quicker, and reduces the quality of his pass.

And a QB with moderate to high Pass Consistency will not see his pass quality diminish when he's hurried?

lots of factors play in... high pass consistency will diminish quality/lower chance of lower quality pass under pressure

pressure also raises the chance the QB will be moving during the pass (especially if blitzing from one side - see over will/under sam mike blitz out of the 3-3-5), further lowering the % quality of the pass

another benefit of hurries are that the QB throws the ball before he wants to, therefor lowering the yards/attempt than if the QB had more time for the WR to run their routes deeper.

That's the trade-off between these cloud plays with lower completion %, but higher YPA, and blitzing plays with higher % completion, but lower YPA.

at least that's my understanding from what I've seen/scouted on GLB2scout

I personally love S* pass rushing LB's...but I use my S*'s to serve multiple roles in the defense and I like having him over there to cover the weakside.

For QBs above 90+ pass con, you won't see quality diminish much at all even when a pass rusher is breathing on them. Below that it becomes an ever increasing issue.

Your QB is at 70, which is too low. Consistency not only impacts how well the QB handles pass rush pressure, but more importantly how well they throw on 3rd/4th downs, and in the redzone. Both QBs and receivers should be 80+ consistency, IMO.

Same. I try to have a S* LB that has 100 sprinting on the edge but try to use him in a more versatile way, but he is competent at pass rush at least in the early tiers

So are you of the opinion that pass rushers are a waste of time seeing how QBs at the higher tiers are harder to sack and negatively influence on hurries?

Pass rushers are still important. Keep in mind that very few Vet QBs aren't in that 90+ consistency category(You usually need a S* QB for that). Most will be 80-90. Sacks in general are overrated, but hurries will have an impact on most QBs you face. Shortening the time they have to get rid of the ball is just as important as pressure, because a well-built QB will pick apart a defense that gives him all day to throw.
