Ya I mean is it a beret or a top hat? Also what color? What kind of fabric are we working with here?

Got something working for offense.

Defense will be next obviously. This isn't final but generally this is my idea.

So offense is easy as they are the drivers.
Defense is a bit hard as it's reactionary. How do I do that? Do we have to load D playbook D tactics and then how do I know what offensive plays will run. The issues is defense is decided by an unknown offensive factor. Do I just not care and just show the list of plays that could be called? How do I show percentage as it would t be relative as the unknown factor.

I always thought defensive plays just fired whenever tactics wanted them to, regardless of what the offense did? Was i completely stupid in that assumption?

If I do something like that it would better suit me to build a whole new page for this. I wouldn't be able to repurpose the same page. Though that is somewhat ok, I can steal code from one to another and save the work, but wasn't sure if wanting to see the tactics as well as the results at the same time makes sense.

- Defense play distance and play type can now be customized after being added to the playbook. This should allow coordinators to have an easier time using the plays they want. To do this, just add a play to your playbook, and then click on the distance/type yellow buttons to cycle through the options. A play can have different settings in each playbook section. If you remove a play and re-add it, it will revert to its default settings.
A few notes, because although I think this is fairly common knowledge, I know questions have come up in the past:
- When tactics calls for inside or outside run D, play distance doesn't matter. Distance only applies to passing plays.
Example scenario: Your tactics calls for 100% inside run defense on first down. You only have a medium inside run play and a short inside run play in the playbook. Both plays have an equal chance to be called on first down.
- Short "pass/run" plays are higher priority than medium or long "pass/run" plays when tactics calls for inside or outside run D.
Example scenario: Your tactics calls for 100% inside run defense on first down. You only have a medium "pass/run" play and a short "pass/run" play in the playbook. The short "pass/run" play will always be called on first down.
- "Inside run" plays are higher priority than "pass/run" plays when tactics call for inside run D. Same applies for outside run.
Example scenario: Your tactics calls for 100% inside run defense on first down. You only have a short "pass/run" play and a medium "inside run" play in the playbook. The "inside run" play will always be called on first down.
- "Pass/run" plays have equal priority with "pass" plays when a tactics calls for a pass D.
Example scenario: Your tactics calls for 100% short pass defense on first down. You only have a short "pass" play and a short "pass/run" play in the playbook. Both plays have an equal chance to be called on first down.
- If you don't have a pass play with a distance matching the tactics call, a pass or pass/run play will be selected, ignoring distance.
Example scenario: Your tactics calls for 100% short pass defense on first down. You only have a medium "pass" play and a long "pass/run" play in the playbook. Both plays have an equal chance to be called on first down.
- Zone and blitz tactics have the lowest priority, if a suitable play matching all criteria doesn't exist in the playbook. A play with the selected play type and distance will be selected first.
Example scenario: Your tactics calls for 100% short pass defense and 100% blitz on first down. You only have a short "pass" non-blitz play and a long "pass" blitz play in the playbook. The short "pass" non-blitz play will always be called on first down.
- These all apply only for the section of the playbook that corresponds to the offense formation. For example, if the offense formation has 2 receivers, only the plays in the "2 receiver D" section of your playbook will be considered when choosing a play.
This tells me the defensive is reactive to the offense and albiet tactics set, it changes based on the offensive formation and play call.

This could get complicated.... I guess its tough if there's no inside/outside rush plays, and the tactics call out of that playbook, thats gonna be impossible to show

One of the many reasons DC's are VERY hard to come by.

I think like GE said, let USER set up % of:
inside/outside/pass
Down distances (similar to tactics)
And formation set (2te, 2wr, ... etc)
Big Lead
Trailing Big

So what you are saying allow user to setup the following aspects?
Pass Very Short (set percentage)
Pass Short (set percentage)
Pass Medium (set percentage)
Pass Long (set percentage)
Pass Deep (set percentage)
Rush Very Short (set percentage)
Rush Inside (set percentage)
Rush Outside (set percentage)
Formations (ability to select multiple)
They can set percentages in those values and when analysis is ran, it will evaluate those numbers and show the plays that would have been called. At that point the play itself really doesn't matter for the offense. Downs, Distances, Big Lead, Trailing, Field Pos all have no relevance because I would show the play list in every tactical category based off the form fields.
Keeping to those above categories only will allow DC's to test what exactly would happen in a 100% very short passing play and so forth. Allows them to see specific scenario play calls. If they want to see it in a trailing aspect, go to that portion of the Defensive Tactics, but I think this actually might be doable. Just have to find an elegant way to display the form on the page. It does suck I have to segregate all the code from Offense and Defense as I can't share it, but such as life.

I'm confused about the confusion.
So we import our defense and defensive tactics.
Then we pick the offensive formation.
Then chose factors like down, distance, score, quarter, and time on the clock.
95% of the time I would only be looking a down and distance.
