Not against a zone defense. In man, yes, because the defender is usually trailing right behind the WR so he just turns around to defend the pass or intercept the pass.

Against a zone, the WR is in a "pocket" and a slow pass will give the defender time to move over and int or knock down the pass...or knock it loose.

I dunno I haven't really tested much for high power against zone though I have to imagine the low trajectory throws don't bode well against you zone lbs in between the qb and receiver.

Throw Power is more important for the teams that are Pure passing and their WR's are built around Agile Route Runners. QB hits them faster on routes so that the majority of CB's aren't able to catch up with the Receiver yet, and they don't have enough Power Tackling to knock loose. But too high of Throwing Power versus your receiver hands, and it's harder for your Receivers to catch it which causes more drops and unable to secure due to nearby defenses.

Actually in this game it is the opposite. Defenders are actually in better position to make the play on a bullet throw than a lob because the lob throw creates an under throw reaction that only the WR seems to recognize.

I assume canterob was talking more specifically about post, dig and slant routes for shorter gains where the separation matters a bit. Just my assumption anyway.

Depends on:

- if the defense is zone or man
- if the pass is a slant or bomb

Bullet passes vs a man defense on a bomb is bad
Bullet passes vs a zone defense on a bomb could be deadly
Bullet passes vs a man defense on a slant is good
Bullet passes vs a zone defense on a slant is good

Soooo......you come to your own conclusions.

But yeah....keep making those noodle armed QBs

yes this.

I don't think it's good for teams that are throwing deeper, as it only causes issues. Example; The higher the Throwing Power, the worse of a play that Singleback Big Iso HB under becomes. The QB tries throwing Bullet passes to the BTE and it only helps out the defender

Just giving you my assertions from actual experience with an 80+ power quarterback in an all pass offense for several seasons. But hey you just started passing so I'm sure you have this on lock down. If Galithor was still around he would echo my sentiments as well as saying that high power causes more overthrown balls as well.

yup. Just too many problems come along with higher power than there are positives.

Wasnt there a change a few seasons ago that said higher power helps WRs catch deep passed?

Catch? No

The quality of the pass is supposed to deteriorate over distance which you see sometimes as the pass is way short. But other times you see the ball float perfectly into the WRs hands while the defender looks clueless.

100 Pass Power QB with some eligibility left. He could be a little better now with cap boosts for conditioning. Had some good moments, like this one:

Pretty dang good QB with upper middle throw power at 59... only had 3 ints to 111 tds his year in vet. I wouldn't go over 60...65 though.
