But that includes does include assists and not many TFLs. TFLs are what make showboat valuable, and you can't get many without decent enough HG to get in backfield and enough Power Tackling to keep RB there. No coincidence that there's a strong correlation between Sticks and TFLs.
Well, DTs play in the middle of the field. It's rare to get a lot of opportunities without another DL or LB nearby to turn that into an assist. Not sure you can really ding a build for the fact that 10 other people play on defense and a lot of them tend to crowd around the DT. And whether it is an assist or solo tackle, the ball carrier is still on the ground, so who really cares?
The TFL comment is fair. The build I posted is pass focused and competent against the run. So he is going to get sacks instead of TFLs (and a lot of those missed tackles are potential TFLs too because he has appropriately mediocre tackling skills considering how infrequently DTs tackle and he is going up against the current meta of ridic S* powerbacks that break almost everything). You could adjust the build to be more run focused and go for TFLs instead, but a S* DT should be great at both, which is why I said you should be able to beat all of those numbers.
Originally posted by Oofty This is where I think we disagree, at least on extent. With almost all of my builds, it seems like power plays a big role in creating those opportunities--even if fewer rolls are won, the wins are much bigger and losses are much smaller in fighting for position.
I think you missed my point. Fighting for position in the middle of the field is meaningless on an outside run. Outside runs are very popular right now.
I feel like out of all defensive positions, DTs need the least investment into tackling. Well I mean coverage corners too. DTs can disrupt the ball carrier but just always seem to get more missed tackles. Maybe it's because at the beginning of the play rbs have higher conditioning and are more apt at breaking tackles. Who knows.
Anyways. I don't build DTs to be tackling beasts because they'll be at a big disadvantage somewhere else. I build them to get through the line and disrupt a play, slowing the rb enough for the safeties and lbs.
That Conditioning is kinda low for a S*. My 2 S* DTs will have higher PRT, BRB and Conditioning (88); FW = 65; same sprint and very close tackling skills.
