This DT sucks. I could build a better regular dot. Needs way more footwork if you want him to get his pass rush on. That's some nice sprinting though.

A bit harsh and not entirely true IMO. He should be effective as an all around DT. There are some things that I would do differently but everybody has their own tweaks on skills anyway.

I wouldn't go that far, but I don't see the need for Pass Rush Power of 32. I mean who cares? Use the SP towards Footwork and help BRB and PRT.

The Sprinting is nice, but how far is he going to run? I know you mention breaking up the occasional HB pitch, but with just on DT on the roster I'd rather he was a Shed Block beast than maybe getting one TFL a game on a pitch/counter. So I'd put some of that Quickness/Sprinting in Footwork, again. Maybe a little Diving too (25-30) so he can stop Dives on 3rd and 1.

It is cheap yes, but the reason why not is because you have to spend valuable attribute points in confidence.

Sprinting is very useful in the pass rush.

I'm actually giving Gold First Step to my 2 S* DTs I will be creating. Hoping it will help get to the QB after a spin cycle fires.

You might want to test that on a PUP first before you commit to it. Every time my DT does a Spin Cycle, he isn't stopped or almost stopped.

It is, no doubt, but he's only going to have one DT, not 2 or 3. With 2 S* DEs (thought he had this) and a S* Blitzing LB and a S* MLB, does he really need a DT that has a Pass Rush when it's the only one on his team?

On Over Will, he'll have 5 rushers and everyone is a S*. Does the DT really need elite pass rushing?

I don't disagree at all, but if he doesn't want pass rush out of his DT, then he is spending too much SP in pass rush skills. Either build a pass rusher or don't (i.e., spend more or less SP there, but not the amount earmarked).

That said, I think DTs make very effective pass rushers in this sim.

Interesting, so where would you re-alocate the SP from pass rush skills?

You may get better results looking for pass rush from your DT and run stopping from your DEs.

You cats really skimp on balance for D-Linemen. I think 70 is a min for DT. And good luck tackling anybody....or finding a player for that matter. But hey...at least you can bull rush!

My problem with these builds is that they look good with the specialty skills but you are skimping on confidence which i believe will hurt the build more than anything. Mind you need to test it but i believe we have been underrating confidence in this game for awhile now.

I actually made these generalist S* D builds in my private forum about a week ago, and I'm willing to share them here for discussion.

These are just generalist builds, obviously in most teams an SS would never have both man and zone awareness, and there is room for several players to be better in certain aspects in exchange for being worse in others. But these are generalists, and can be tweaked for each team. I mainly made them as guides for myself for any other defensive S*'s I build from now on to make sure I hit certain baselines, like I will never build another S* DE that doesn't have both 100 prt and brb.
