Getting to know a Senior League Team: The New York Lindy HoppersHistory:- The Lindy Hoppers have an all time record of 50-62-2
- They have made the playoffs only once in their entire history
- Their best outing all time was a 46-20 win over the Eugene Elderly in Season 7, the first Senior League season. HB Tyler Parsons led the team with 115 yds on the ground and two TDs, including this impressive run after the catch
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/118549/480445- Their worst outing was a 76-3 loss to Hartford in Season 13, the worst performance by any team ever.
The Offense:QB: The field general spot for the Hoppers is solely manned by Sir Percival le Gallois. He is a dual threat QB, with 2996 rushing yards over his career to go along with 24338 passing yards. Although he has a career losing percentage, going 53-74-0, he does have a #1 OMVP trophy from the Kitten League, Season 13 , where he also led in Pass Yards and Pass TDs.
Backfield: The Hoppers have a steady stable of backs with the recent addition of Chaos Speed. The lead back is HB Max Power, a Superstar runner most notably from the Killer Kiwis. He has a plethora of gold trophies, with the highlights being both ST and O MVP from the season 14 Puppy League to go along with 4 Championship trophies and a #1 Ladder position Trophy. He should be a fearsome back that will make a huge difference in the Senior League. The backup, Chaos Speed, has made his mark as a returner in the Senior League before and is looking to do the same. The final HB, Graham Haney, is a CPU back who has yet to average more than 4 YPC in a season but does have a bronze ST trophy from Hydrogen League in Season 13, no small feat. At FB, Mule Bakk and his 5 gold trophies lead the way for the Hoppers stable.
The Line: An all-CPU line spells doom for most teams, and the Hoppers may be in trouble here. Between the whole line, there are two championship trophies. Right now, the Hoppers have given up more sacks than any other team this season. Will this be the weak link that keeps them out of competing?
The Receivers: At TE, the job is up in the air. CPU Isaac Hartman has 2 trophies and 7 more TDs in fewer seasons than his partner Jorden Mercer. Mercer's 48% catch rate edges out Hartmans 45%. But the real strength is in the WRs. Two CPUs, Armand Weeks and Jarrod Gee, come from the S14 Deimos league champion. Hercanormous Bear, once of the longest running GLB2 WRs, holds down the starting job. Backing him up is Jasey Dee, a solid WR with an above average catch rate.
The DefenseThe D-Line: The DTs lack depth, with only two CPU players holding the middle down. DT Sully Browning did once lead his league in passes deflected with 9 in season 6. 4 DEs are on the roster, two of which are human. DE Tom Donowitz has 4 MVP trophies (1 gold) and a champ trophy from Hartford's epic S13 run. DE Trenton Nunez led GLB in sacks last year. CPU DE Marcus Holley has a talent for forcing fumbles. All in all this could be a solid unit for the Hoppers
The Linebackers: This 4 man crew is a unit with some depth issues. LB Deez Nuts leads the squad as a DMVP candidate going in to week 3 with some strong play in the pass game. The only human on the squad, Nuts is a Senior League rookie. CPU LB Verne Warden made some noise last year in the Senior League, earning a silver trophy for INTs. Jim Echols is another strong pass defender. The LB squad of the Hoppers is clearly built to make the lives of TEs and other pass catchers difficutl.
The Secondary: Technically, teams are allowed to have up to 8 CBs. The Hoppers are taking full advantage of that. Stone Monkey, a Senior League fixture, has yet to allow greater than 50% completions against him in the league. Speedster Dante Hall racks up tackles. Jay Swatta put up an MVP worthy season in the Senior League S13, picking off 4 passes and deflecting 12 more on 36 targets. Tommy Muncy has averaged 6 INTs per season over the last 4. All in all, the Hoppers CBs are built to own the passing game. CPU players Ari Bain and Wilfurd Cope were on the Season 6 championship winning team POOPZILLA BOYS together, which is hilarious. The final piece is the safeties; Demitry Kavanov is a human built Senior League mainstay who is especially strong against the pass. FS DefieO Partyboy is a more quiet player, but his presence is noticed in how few targets come his way.
Prediction:The New York Lindy Hoppers have a fairly strong team, but have been placed in the same division as the powerhouse Eugene Elderly. They will need to rely on their run game to pick up the easy wins that will put them in playoff position. Their pass defense will cause fits for most teams, but particularly those with a weak QB. I predict the Hoppers will string together a solid season and should make it into the Wild Card with a good out of division performance.
