FYI - you can use your superstar as your pickup player. And it does work properly if you retire him immediately you do get the superstar points back.

but after retiring that superstar pickup player- the system won't let me make another pickup player as it thinks I already have one in use.

thanks bort.

seems to me it would be a lot better if pickup games show up on my games tab (maybe they will but it doesn't seem like it).

otherwise it is going to get kind of lost in the shuffle for me.

also - anyone done the math? can a pickup player go from creation to legend in a week? 2 weeks? is anyone likely to pay flex to boost since that actually could get kind of expensive to be paying the boost flex every other day or whatever?

Good suggestion on the My Games tab. I'll see what we can figure out; since they are sorted by days on there I don't think they'll show up in a useful way currently.

If you can add the feature that pickup games show up on your games feed I do think that will help a ton.


also -- is there going to be some kind of stat page for pickup games? player ranking would go a long way toward generating interest in the pickup mode.

which pickup HB is getting the most yards? most receptions? most broken tackles?

which pickup CB has the most INTs?

that kind of stuff.

That was the general thought.

You'll also only have one pickup player, and you'll be clicking the button half an hour prior.

We discussed doing that and I agree it would possibly help make the mode more fun, but the stats also are also hard to compare since you can play any number of games at any rate. We decided to roll without it for now and see if we can come up with something actually interesting after people play with it for a bit.

That makes sense - but you get around it by just generating per game stats. (total/games played ldo)

I understand that you've got to be practical -- just tossing ideas out.

when discussion in the forum requires some form of self promotion to get something going (LOOK HOW GOOD MY PICKUP HB IS!!) things die quickly. When someone can post "Pickup Pedro is killing it! What is the secret?" - then maybe you're onto something.

Would also be nice if you added the human user names to the box score on pick up games. This could be a new column in the box score -- or it could be simply adding the username (linked) to the box score right after the player name in ( ) ie:


Pickup Pedro (txsteve)


That way it could generate some kind of sense of community in those games in that mode.

Other ideas:

- 250 flex to convert pickup player to real player who can join a team (honestly I see this as the only way pickup mode is going to make you any flex -- and it could make a decent amount)

- add button on home page to sign up for pick up game so I don't have to go all the way into the player to do it

- if you can get the pickup game on the game page --- please take the giant top screen notice on the player page

- add pickup mode achievements (3 pickup games in 1 day // 5 in a day // 10 in a day // 25 in a day // be a player of the game in pick up mode / etc) -- come up with a quick 100 and drop them in

- tie in tiny flex award to achievements --- even 10 per achievement -- that would be 1000 free flex if you get all 100 (which will be very difficult)

Pickup players still cost flex to boost. Can you use a free player as a pickup player?

Can you make a way to use the superstar trait on the pickup player without affecting our regular S* points? I would like to test out S* builds with the pu player

Doubt it. It has always happened on occasion -- we don't know the factors for why it happens though
