Well its a difference in opinion then, but in comparison on Arizona in the same tier I run about double the footwork (40). While your team is a few spots ahead on the ladder, sack rate is not the difference. I'm certainly not trying to make myself out as an expert in any way, but we obviously take different tacts here and they both work. Also please don't take this debate as me maligning your ability in any way, respect your work in the game and as an opponent when we've matched up.

We both have 2 of the least sacked QBs in our tier. Yours has a few less this season, and in rookie yours had twice as many sacks on him as the Renegades QB.

I do ask you this though, your advice is to just keep pumping tech? So your good with him having 15 conditioning too?

No they have high tech conditioning and nothing else.

You have the right to express your opinion - I just think this thread has shown that most of the people expressing their opinions disagree with you.

By the way, there is a tech roll on every single play so no idea why you say pumping tech only helps "once a game". I'm pretty sure there are multiple tech rolls per player per play but not sure.

I won't argue any further though I am surprised by at least one person who disagrees as he is the one who gave me the very advice on lineman builds when I was starting off...

I will speak to your last quote though, the once a game is referencing the fact he has no conditioning. After a play or two that guys hurting and either on the sideline or just getting run by a fresher D player.

Footwork does merit consideration in a pass blocking line, my strategy has always been to build/sign run blockers with a decent amount of footwork to play in my Balanced offenses.
Edit: The footwork gives them the mobility to shift down the line and get into the right position to get in the pass rushers way, now I do understand that a tech roll is still necessary to win the block, but a failed tech roll is not catastrophic once you have slowed the rushers momentum.

Skills like footwork and quickness are very difficult to measure in terms of how much they actually effect things play to play. You can't pinpoint exactly what skills are being used when an O-lineman is moving around. We are talking about a mix of footwork, quickness, sprinting, and awareness. Technique is much easier to evaluate and it obviously makes a big difference.

While I agree with you, and that Is the more established path to building a good pass blocker, I had to weigh in for Hua and the rest of us non traditional agent/coaches and confirm there is indeed more than one way to do this. I submit for consideration https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/133259 if Pass Block Tech were the only way to do things Freakvilles QB should be getting clobbered every time he drops back with an OT that has 43 Pass Block Tech in on all snaps.

And here's a guy with more pass blocking tech and only 30 FW: https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/94494
Way less hurries allowed. O-lineman are rarely credited for sacks allowed and even if they suck at blocking, the QB's in this sim are pretty good at just getting rid of the ball quicker so it's hard to evaluate in terms of stats.

The truth of the matter is that pass blocking is largely overrated which is why most balanced teams lean more towards run blocking. Run block technique makes a huge difference. Defensive lineman largely get pressure from Spin Cycle, which is difficult to stop no matter what your build is.

The OP was asking about pass blocking only though, so my recommendation is technique based on the replay he provided.
