Why are we double dipping on match-ups when there are still opponents near us we haven't faced?

Absolut Vodka (#10) is matched up against Ollo Hammers (#28) for the second time this season.

We haven't played:
#4 Team America (also double dipping)
#6 Washington Wildcats
#8 Siberian Coldfront (also double dipping)
#9 1980's Super Villians (also double dipping)
#11 Nintendo Power (also double dipping)
#12 Marvel Universe
#15 Science Fair (also double dipping)
#16 Da Beers (also double dipping)

I thought the double dipping was supposed to happen in preference over out of tier opponents, instead of when there are still unplayed opponents within tier and within our ladder rank?

Whoville (for the second time)
MEM (for the second time)

I don't mind playing either of those teams twice even though I'm clearly the underdog in both matchups.

But instead of playing 3 good teams I hadn't played, I got 2 repeats and an inactive.

It's not a rant, but the Ladder code could be optimized more. Just saying.

To be honest the Whoville matchup and MEM match ups seem to be exactly what the new algorithm is aiming for... Repeat match ups late in the season against similarly ranked in tier opponents. Jameis is unfortunate but it wasn't a repeat and someone had to play them. For a team that is second in ladder to get a rematch with the #1 team... Doubt anyone would complain unless they were in the same league.

I think if there was a poll this season -

-every single person would say the ladder is improved
-rookie/soph/vet/pro would say (90%) the ladder is really, really good
-seasoned/journey would voice their frustration about the 2&3 tier up games

No we said we wanted to play teams we hadn't played that were in the same tier and in range.

We weren't looking for x2 match ups when there were x0 match ups available.

I don't think that is entirely accurate - at least for most.

I think people would rather see a 1 vs 2 rematch in the ladder....than a 1 vs 10 and a 2 vs 14 because those teams haven't played yet.

Maybe I'm wrong though.

I've got no problem reserving the last Ladder game as a 1v2 matchup, even if it's a rematch.

But then we should be filing in missed opponents earlier.
