With Yukiko I had nothing to do player building wise but the league forum was active, ladder discussion was relevant to my player, and I had naturally had working relationships with other agents which made the game

Going from that to Rookie again has been a total eye opener. My league forum is totally dead. Nobody gives a fuck about the rookie ladder because it is totally imbalanced. I log in to add my points and I log back out. I don't see this getting any better until I get to Seasoned at the very least, and even then only because I am confident I can get on the right team unlike the 275872 agents who don't know anybody in the game / build poorly.

The best thing this game could use is more dumb stuff to do with our players and more stuff we can talk shit about or do to shit on someone else in the game.

Lets make a new Reward Currency that is only for winning games or getting stats or something dumb like that, and then lets use that to setup

- Player Tournaments with betting
- Betting on top 10 ladder games
- New player skin colors for rediculous cost (like 10k reward points for a blue skinned player or some shit)
- Scrim cost
- maybe bonus items for your on-field design

etc.

basically let people bet please, i want to say galithor's teams are bad and put my money where my mouth is. We just want the tools to have fun with the game and the community.

And for the love of god do something with this "rest" day. What the fuck is that shit, it's a browser game.

if mods want activity, here is two things they can do this offseason and i guarantee it will increase player base by ~100 for next season:

fix some of the more major issues that have been brought up for season after season
-end of game tactics
-block pathing
-add offensive plays (or take the lazy route and have the community do that again too)

fix the flex cost to be more user friendly, even if it is short term (which in turn will lead to more teams created, more players created to fill those teams, and more activity due to those - plus high flex cost is the NUMBER 1 REASON that everyone I have known who has quit finally decided to quit for good)

send out a mass email to all old accounts and inform them those changes will take place this offseason

I don't think they have the staff available to fix most of the major issues. Only so much one programmer can do per season. If you want to see results from a bug fixing standpoint Warrior general would probably need to invest more in the game then they currently do or probably ever will.

Invest...what?

Most people don't want to work for good feelings.

Manpower, money. Obviously you're not going to work for charity but at the same time I'm sure you wouldn't turn down some help on the programming side of things.

Well, I'll go ahead and say the theory that we are sitting on mountains of gold but refuse to invest it is a bit silly.

Never said you guys are sitting on a lot of capital. Just stating that I'm not sure you guys have the support needed to properly run a game with a depth of this magnitude.

It's running fine.

We definitely don't have the capital to invest into growing it significantly, though. You're talking a six or seven digit marketing budget for a game genre that is incredibly niche. Web advertising in general is pretty shitty, and trying to get a gaming article written about a web based MMO is like trying to squeeze blood out of rocks...especially when we are a rinky dink mom-and-pop sized operation. We've sent out thousands of PR emails, and gotten a grand total of two replies, both of which in the vein of "not very interested".

The only real hope of the game growing is a social presence, but there's only so much we can do with our twitter and facebook. That 70 follower influence doesn't reach far.

Therefore,

I mean, I think Laggo was possibly on the right train of thought. Juggling around how strong certain formations are matters absolutely zero as far as new user retention goes.

Some kind of hook to try to keep new users around would make sense. As it is, no matter what, a new user (assuming they don't immediately leave) will make a player then have absolutely nothing to do for a minimum of 15-20 minutes, which is about 15-20 minutes longer than it takes them to lose interest and forget about the game.

The question becomes, what could possibly be added that changes that? It's not possible to sim a game instantly for them to watch.

This is what I hoped would come out of this thread...

I think a combine simulator that simply shows the player running a 40 yard dash, Vertical Jump, Broad Jump and Cone Drill. Possibly a passing drill for QBs/Bench Press for OL.

Have a way to display top 10 stats in tier so we can have lol bragging rights.

About that, I believe pickup games help a lot to retain new user.
What about making players play as if they had 100 chemistry in pickup games?
I don't think it's fun at all for a newcomemr to see his ultra uber super rookie HB botch 3 handoffs, and play poorly throughout the whole game, my example is with a HB because a ton of new user create one but it's the same for WR who drops every single pass thrown to them.

Of course if you say that it is already the case I will look stupid, but I highly doubt it considering what happens in every single pickup game.

The overwhelming majority of new players aren't around long enough to watch a pickup game. It is much better than not having it, but it is still not that great.

Basically the only reason anyone stays around is because of friends, or because they are really, really into the "idea" of the game.

Another idea : what about some Highlights video about a very good Veteran player in the main page to hook up noobs by showing them the great things dots can achieve at a high level.

And it probably wouldn't be a lot of work for WG as I'm sure some agents would be glad to do it, maybe not plenty of them, but some of them, there is some very involved guys out there that would like to help the game develop, and also brag about the greatness of their player of course

EDIT: Does your answer means that players don't play as if they had 100 chem? If yes why?
If it retain 5 agents over a year it would still be worth it anyway, I mean it doesn't cost anything to change the value to 100 right?
