you don't even know what a seam route is? Shit man.

I suspect you could exploit GE's Cover 2 significantly by just always slotting your fastest pass catcher at TE, and putting a slower possessiony guy at WR3. Have the TE always get to the FS zone quickly to draw him off. By the time you leave his zone and it frees up the FS to find a new target, it's too late.

Uhh...yes I do. It's when the TE runs straight up the field. At which case he would run straight into the SS and be flanked by the MLB. So the FS should say..."Oh geez. Looks like the TE is covered. I might as well stay over here in my zone and see if any WRs run into it..."

You're thinking like real football. You gotta stop doing that

It's 99% unlikely that zone defenders have any sort of shared knowledge of each other and responsibilities in the sim. They're managing their own bubbles and that's it. If the TE enters the FS's bubble before another target and the FS passes a dice roll to recognize the TE, then they will go after the TE first. Doesn't matter if the SS and MLB are doing the same thing.

You need to get a Cover 3 that you like where the FS stays in the outside 3rd and a LB or someone else covers the middle 3rd. That's the solution to your problem. Work with the zones, not against them.

I do have a Cover 3 that I use.

As for your comment, I need to get a higher zone awareness then so the zone "bubble" will get bigger and the WR 3 will enter his zone before the TE.

I don't think you'll make the zone bigger. Doesn't work like that I think. Might make him recognize a target arriving in the bubble sooner though. Could actually make him break sooner towards the TE and end up in even worse position.

Hence my point above though that teams could probably exploit that play by putting a fast WR in @ TE. Make sure they get the TE downfield first against you. The TE was only marginally faster than WR3 in the example you linked. Would appear it doesn't take much to "bait" the FS over to the TE.

I think zone is the answer. I've gotten my FS up from 50 to 65 zone over the last few games. I ran a couple of sims and the FS is staying with the deep WR on most of the plays.

Is WR3 faster than the TE in those scrims? I really think you'll only run into this as an issue when you play someone with a really fast TE. If you've seen otherwise though, would be good to know for sure.

Nevermind...I spoke to soon. I just scrimmed Salty and the FS kept going after the TE...

You might be right. Check out this play. At tick 23, WR3 is clearly out in front of the TE and my FS takes WR3. On the other ones, it seems like the TE and WR3 are about even. Wish he would take the WR3 when they are even.

So this play is very interesting. FS covers WR3 first, then switches to TE then switches back to WR3.

WR3 is faster out the gate and reaches the 40 yard line before the TE. So my FS initially starts to cover the WR3. Then, at the 40 yard line, the WR3 takes so long to make his turn and the TE turns very fast, so the TE passes the WR3 and reaches the 43 yard line first. At that point, my FS starts covering the TE. Then the FS turns at the last second to cover the WR3 again.

Now you know. My 80's PBS cartoons informed me that knowledge is power!
