I'd personally love to have a mentor type on my squad, I've had dots playing in season 5-6 before being forced away for a bit and returned this season after the deployment. But plan to reset for season 12, with lessons learned.

I think I struggle most with the builds at career start and points placement on defense maybe around the field. I've basically smoothed out a decent offense at this point in the season, using the scout tool to remove plays that didn't work and emphasize the ones that were. But I know I am way behind the tops teams, and most likely was from go.

Defensively, well I ran a defense back in season 6 but it was a late season owner buy in and we were hit and miss. Not sure if I even should use that work as a starting point. I've actually had the same D strat and playbook in all season...

Your doing a decent job fielding a competitive team. I was just curious on this one statement since your team page shows an experienced GM that I would have thought could fill this role.

Obviously this would result in huge redesign so probably not - but I wish there was a way to redo some of the attribute allocations a little bit after the rookie season. It would give newer owners / player builders an opportunity to fix things that they made a mistake in when building their original players (i.e. not knowing you could bring attributes below 5).

It's amazing how many people make that mistake. You would think they would change the attributes to starting at 1 instead of 5.

A good guide would go a long way. GLB2 offers no guide which has always been very odd and a HUGE deterent for new members

I have a feeling I'm going to be bored tomorrow. Everyone in Sophomore feel free to scrim the whales tomorrow.

Edit: Oh hey, we got Bloody in ladder

I recently posted in a team forum and the owner replied and I realized he has like 5 more of my dots on other teams.
I'm not terribly surprised. Coordinating is work and doing it well is more work. Typically that work chases people away from doing it... just like in real life.

Even if I took the time to make a guide for new players it would just disappear into the abyss since nothing gets stickied.

Need to hit stobie up and basically send him the entire post as one paper and let him post it with your name as the author so he could stickie it

Definitely.

If you make a guide and ask to sticky it you'll totally be ignored.

Might even be suspended, depending on my mood.

Not worth getting suspended. No guide.

If I recall - stobie was working on a way to share playbooks and tactics. I'm not sure if he was building that as a 'pay only' feature or not (I would understand if he did) - but that might be the best thing possible for the new player.

If Rob tossed out 5 shared defenses: pure pass / blitz / inside run stopping / outside run stopping / generally balanced

If Galithor tossed out 2-3 passing Offenses

If Dee (you don't deserve the .) threw out his specialty: QB run spam

Etc -- you might get to a point where new owners have more usable options -- which could lead to them having more fun and being more interested in the game -- which might lead to them being more interested / excited about the game -- which might lead to them tweaking / learning / building their own stuff.

There are lots of options to learn this game. I could probably list 5-10 agents off the top of my head who would answer any question helpfully. The issue is that new players don't ask questions or ask for help. Is that because they just aren't that interested? because they are really looking for a game that they can play 5 minutes per day...not 45? Beats me...but step one: remove barrier of entry and allow user created/shared default playbooks.
