Kind of want to run zone for my next team. But its difficult. Zone seems like you need a far bigger defensive roster than normal. You have a limited selection of plays to build around. A main difference between Man and Zone D is that the Zone SA's are restricted to under zones. So if you build players to best utilize SA's, that severely limits the playbook you can call from.
Or build really fast safeties.

I am very interested in Zone as well but always seem to chicken out when it comes to going for it. LOL
Seems like there could be away to do some kind of hybrid. Zone skills on LB/Safeties -- but man on CBs

Zone is intriguing as hell. I feel like you could literally build every non-DL defender the same way. Tons of speed, power tackling, strip tech, zone cov awr, pursuit and intercepting. Toss in some diving & vert for a bit more range.
Close...but you are dead if you do not have tackle grip and tackle tech vs power runners. This is what happened to my 1st attempt. Empire's Zone Strikes Back has specialist for this specific reason.
Also, for "speed". The only pass defenders on my defense that have sprinting heavily invested are my safeties. The other defenders have very high footwork and quickness. Reason being, all my non-safeties play underneath zone, due to the EOTP and Zone Shark only firing for underneath zone. So they don't have to cover a ton of ground, but they do have to be very agile within the zone they are covering. I play mainly (%90) 2 deep zone. My safeties need very high sprint and quickness so they can change direction and sprint fast to get to the WR or defend the pass once the ball is thrown.

having high sprinting would lead to more ffum and KL though.

I actually kind of agree with GE here (bullet is in the chamber... Talk me down man!). While speed is surely needed, inside of the zone area that a player is assigned he is not going to get up to any crazy speed in time and instead will need higher quickness/footwork to close smaller gaps between the defender and ball catcher/carrier quickly. Speed on safeties make sense as they are a catch all and will often be pursuing ball carriers from farther away. I do think that a good amount of vertical would be needed for those underneath coverages. I often see defenders jumping but may not be jumping high enough or just suck at PD rolls. I don't know. Players should probably still all be 65-75 speed though for getting to their zone quickly and pursuing ball carriers that are outside of their zones.

Don't think that's possible. Not enough SP to go around unless you had a S* studded defense.
