Originally posted by bhall43 Valhalla was great but their success was mostly a flash in the pan. The second w_alloy had to start to break from the mold of his team and recruit some guys he pussed out. Huh? They played through first season of decline and then quit after their third championship in a row, presumably because they didn't want to wait two years for the next batch of dots. While there is definitely something to be said for winning across different sims and having to recruit a roster, Valhalla played 60 World League games (including the playoffs) and won 59 of them. They're the best.

He had a team recruited but instead decided to quit. He gave all his players out to different teams.
I mean they were great because he was a step ahead in the process of every other team and he owned all of the dots. It isn't like he put together any super great gameplans or anything along the way. I have far more respect for a team like HHW(C) who from season 2-3 has been a winning culture across every sim imaginable and doing it a variety of different ways.

All I am gonna say about it is that don't tell me "presumably" he was waiting for any dots coming up because he wasn't doing anything of the sort. His entire team of dots were great. Blaze's dots were also great. If he didnt have that leg up on Blaze he didn't want to even exist in a world full of planning. He had a team and was going to run with it. He then backed out and left a lot of dots shifting in the wind. He wasn't a great coordinator. He was a guy with really great dots who did all the work. They did all the work that every other OC was doing in the game but couldn't because his team of dots were superior.
I give him all the credit in the world for what he did in front of everyone else. We had players on Lincoln who had similar builds who I was driving towards similar lengths but his players were almost perfect. All of them. Kudos to him. He was the greatest franchise in one, maybe 2 such sims. No doubt.
That being said no damn way is Valhalla the best franchise to ever be. He played 1-2 sims under one real standard and pussed out when that changed...w_alloy wasn't a game to game planner of any sort either. I think it is actually laughable that anyone thinks they were the best organization to ever play the game.
They were the best organization to play that game. For 3 seasons. Out of 40+.

HHWC impresses me because they have overcome pretty much every sim the game has offered since the early seasons of GLB as HHW. They were rolling through the game before Odessa was even a twinkle in the eye of GLB.
Not sure when Odessa started but i didn't join DS til season 20 i think. (Couldn't find a stud OC for Krungthep)
That's about when Mojo started winning a bunch of things
