2WR double WR1 and TE. Outside zone to support outside strong side run.

Many teams only run the ball to the strong side. Here is a play that sells out to stop it:

The majority of passing comes out of 3WR formation. The favorite targets are generally the TE and WR3. This play doubles both. Although designed for 3WR pass defense, I have including other formations as well.

I'm a big fan of plays having counters that are designed to stop them. With the exception of Middle Overload to an extent, Slam plays have the ability to pick up a 1st Down in short yardage situations. This 4-4 play moves your NT & DT inside a bit more lining up in the A Gaps and puts both LO/LI and RO/RI attacking the B Gaps. You also have the FS in a very shallow zone ready to pick up the HB if he makes it to the 2nd level.
Play Strength & Weaknesses:
Inside Dives - Medium, could give up big runs
Inside Slams - Great
Outside Rushes - Very Weak
Passes - Very Weak
4-4 Inside Slam

I like the simplicity, but isn't that essentially engage eight?

It's very close with the exception of the LOLB & ROLB hitting the B Gaps instead of the C Gaps. It also slides the DT/NT a bit more inside and brings the FS down to help clean up.
