Alternatively you can force similar match ups on the kickoff etc if you scout. A few good pancakes on a CB or FS is pretty big when it comes to throwing passing vs the guy if he's preforming lower due to morale loss from some healthy beat downs. Scouting ST can be game changing, I'll do it in playoffs or must-win games.
As to #1, this is why you should have a bunch of high BRB CBs and not just one.
As to #2, this is why you should be roster light on Offense and have Depth on D.
