and how is Tampa still in the top 10... they have lost SEVEN straight ladder games, yet still ranked #6 overall

How does ELO still have them this high?

I have three wins again top 3 teams, and am still at #9... so maddening!

Doh, not an immaculate week with Brisbane, Tampa, and Rusty failing my picks!

If I'm power ranking right now:

1. Hawaii Bulls
2. Minnesota Stunners
3. Air Raid
4. Harrisonburg Bulldogs
5. Queen City Dieing Romos
6. New Jersey Generals
7. Glasgow Rangers
8. Salty Runback
9. Louisiana Screaming Pelicans
10.Portland Ronin

In league play it looks like:

dead romo's vs Salty is happening right now

detroit vs tampa piranhas in a couple of hours

and all of the other top 10 teams should get a relatively easy league game

Salty wins -- dead romos still #1 even with 7 losses on the year

Yea the ladder is going to need some tweaking with all the teams piling up in Vet. QC is not even a top 5 team this season yet most likely will hold on to the #1 spot.

Always suspected legacy teams would have an advantage in the ladder system.

Stobie - I'm sure you have a lot of free time on your hands...

How about:

- scrape every game of every team from rookie up (so when a team re-sets all of their pre reset games are ignored).

- starting at the beginning - log record at time of game

- end up with overall team records -- and overall opponent records at time of game

- come up with your own tweaks

BOOM - STOBIE Ladder / STOBIE ELO / SELO is created.

Sadly I have really thought about this with my site in creating power rankings as well as ladder elo. Issue is that I can't tell if a team was in rookie in s1 vs s5.... So if I were to do it would have to start from scratch, so I say the hell with the elo, just have a season by season power rankings.

I wouldn't do it season by season, I'd do it based on a set number of games (like 30 (minus playoff games)) so when the beginning of the season rolls around you aren't stuck with only 1/2/3 games worth of a set of data. From experience it's about game 5-7 where things start falling into place. Until then it's incomplete. So might as well just make it so those low data sets never happen.

You could keep the history on a season by season basis though, then just check box the seasons you want to combine and list em that way.

So:
team ABC S1, ABC S2, ABC S3 (combined)
team XYZ S6, XYZ S7, XYZ S8 (combined)
team LMN S3, LMN S4, LMN S5 (combined)
etc...

With Hawaii reaching 3 today, I'm starting to think it is possible for them to reach #1 by seasons end. Based on results so far, Queen City could certainly still lose a few more games the rest of this season. We know the gap between Hawaii and Portland must be tiny since Portland only just got to 2 recently. I suspect queen city isn't that far ahead either with all the losses now. They did lose #1 briefly last season after all.

Matter of fact, if I'm looking at it right, Air Raid is the next "first possible" opponent for Romo.
