It negates the "releasing new teams midseason" thing.

I think what potts was referencing was multiple seasons running simultaneously, which has too many practicality issues to list.

Yes, this. If we had multiple leagues running on different schedules, with a new league starting every week or so, it would be HELLISH to deal with free agency and other stuff.
