Well, it's about 50/50 between two FBs and other combinations from sources online.

Plus it was partially intended to give FBs more offensive focus. Just adding more HBs wouldn't have changed much.

I knew I kept two FB's on certain teams for a reason other than special teams

Considering how rare two FBs are on a roster, can we at least get a reduced (not eliminated, but just made tiny) the OOP for a TE at FB? Considering how often NFL teams put a blocker TE in the backfield, it's logical for it to be a small one.

Or, really, just confirm "it's small".

Sickening run by my non-running QB!

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/96448/3402357

(also - that is a journeyman QB vs a vet team)

(for the record - ran it 4 more times...for a net -3 yards or something -so must have just gotten really lucky on this one)

I also ran the diamond pitch:

Diamond Slam:

Diamond Counter Sweep Weak:

Not great examples of effectiveness necessarily (journeyman vs vet) - but shows the plays in action.

It might not be in for the first day, but it will be in eventually.

When you do that, can you give us the 5-2 depth chart for D?

I thought it was a universal 5% OOP, but BortBlade reduced the availability of OOP play to compensate.

Looks like the DC is kind of in....since the WFB was added to the main.

Here is my question though - if we get a "diamond" specific depth chart -- where we can put a running FB in -- then that is certainly a step toward tagging....and receiving / blocking TEs....etc...etc

Yeah... instead of a diamond specific depth chart, why not just add FB2 to the main depth chart?

Would that really be any different? No other formations use 2 FBs.

Maybe I'm off base - but my team (100% run focused blockers at all positions) has had my counters shut down regularly when the other team game plans for it.

I understand at the top level - that it was difficult to stop? but at seasoned - it was stopped reasonably as long as it was game planned for (Nebraska shut mine down in the championship game -- but my D did not shut theirs down).

When is a play over-powered....and when is it the fault of the builds and the defensive coordinator? I'm not sure.

In this particular game - Viper obviously did a better job than I did of calling the defensive plays. I let him gouge me. He had his players in a position to stop me for a loss every time, but they missed some tackles.

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/95238

Summary:
Stunners - ran 5 counters. If all tackles in the backfield were successful - would have been like 5 rushes for -18 yards.
Since there were two plays with two tackles missed in the backfield - 5 rushes for 90 yards

Nebraska - 12 rushes for 183 yards = 15 yards per carry

Every example from our championship game:
Big I counter left vs man OLB Blitz -3 yard loss
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/95238/3190876

Strong I counter vs ZEB -6 yard loss
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/95238/3191258

Big I vs man OLB blitz - no gain
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/95238/3191267

Big I vs Man OLB Blitz - 68 yard TD but included 2 broken tackles (1 in the backfield)
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/95238/3191387

Strong I counter vs man safety dogs - 31 yard TD but included 2 broken tackles in the backfield
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/95238/3191514

As for Nebraska against my D (which was not a good D)
Big I counter left vs Man Base 4-3 - 23 yards untouched (but included pancakes)

Counter Sweep Strong vs Shallow Sam Blitz - 12 yard TD (touched at last second)

Big I counter left vs Man Base 4-3 - 12 yards untouched

Well MEM was really the only team able to contain QC for the entire game this season when they ran counters and that was just using a bend but don't break type of defense that has it's own inherent flaws. You can shut vet level counters down fairly well for a quarter or two (look at the DD vs QC game) but at some point the D's get morale death spiraled and the game gets out of hand quickly.

And a lot of those plays you linked are man base. Man base gets oblitered at the highest level on counters. The safeties react too late and it's usually a 20 yd gain every time or more unless a DT/DE makes a play.

I feel the best counter to the counter is for the play side de to break his block honestly.
