The problem with Vet is going to be people who don't want to spend that much flex just for a few extra seasons. I mean, the cost of a new player for only an extra 15 games?

As for recruiting...we need much, much better tools. It's a ton of work finding players since you can't sort marketplace by relevant skills, players putting ads in the marketplace have to manually go to a separate space to make their builds visible, etc.

You are looking at the cost structure wrong. The cost of a new player is just the opening price and that is restarting all over again. The cost of reupping 15 games being with an entire build all ready to go.

Recruiting is definitely tough right now and not because the players aren't there. It is just sort of a mess, especially TLFP's.

Recruiting is hell indeed. I sent a ton of Pm's out and trying to keep track of every one gets a bit hectic at times

The real problem of GLB1 though is that the mid levels are entirely no fun to play whatsoever. All the builds are so radically different in path's. The only real radical difference here is whether you went early bloomer or not. Which as people have showed isn't really a crazy difference maker.

I think this might be a fun season from the games I have played thus far. Nothing about the sim looks stupidly broken that I have seen and games look to be interesting both for passing and running. Time will tell though.

Ya it sucks that journey man is down to 4 leagues but they are 2 seasons from forming right in with current Pro anyways. It is going to take a few seasons of Vet to get things to where people look and see the top level and want to get there. Instead of constantly resetting they will recruit, adapt, and push their way through. Also making it easier is that Sophmore and Seasoned are the only real gap between Rookie and Vet. Journeyman up has people honed in on most of their best skills and starting to fill in where needed.

Yeah, I mean if you are doing it right, you don't get SAs and very little % AEQ until very near the end of the build (especially because of the stacking %s).

I get an idea for a build, but I have no idea whether it is going to be any good for over a year because I can't add the SAs that I want, I don't have all the VAs that I need, and I don't have the AEQ or CEQ %s that will determine ultimate success.

If you do decide to break your build by adding the SAs early, you still have no idea if your build is any good just because he's wrecking in the minors for the very reason that: (1) no one else of value has added their SAs; and (2) many of the best teams/co-ordinators save their cares for PL/WL. You might be wrecking shit against weaker builds, dots, and teams, but that won't translate to the meta of the WL or the quality of the top end dots that built "correctly".

GLB2 at least lets you get SAs to gold in a few seasons and you can balance your builds a bit more. The meta still changes, but at least teams at every level can have cares without killing their plateau.

Ya Build paths can be just so wildly different and people wonder why they haven't tested the GLB1 midlevels a ton. Because there is no real variable to pull from.

I've only started to notice it is basically the same 7 or 8 people who talk about anything to do with the life of this game.

My post was comparing the two games, not discussing the "life" of the game, imo.

Because most people really don't give a fuck. I have actually been pleasantly surprised by the action in some of my team forums I joined this season with my batch of sophmores.

I was talking more in general, and I agree with Bhall although all of my teams recently have been networks that either talk in other locations or have nothing to talk about.

That's not any different than most any mmo laggo. There's always the half dozen forum warriors that make 90% of the posts.

There might be the four or five standouts that are easily recognized but you usually see a lot more one-off opinions or short-lived discussions during a crisis (MO spam for instance) that see rabid interest come out of the woodwork I'd say.

Maybe (or rather likely) a browser game, particularly a sports one, attracts somewhat of a different kind of audience.

Then again when 4 out of every 5 threads is a ladder preview how can you find any of this discussion anyway!

Of course, there was a lot more to be angry about.

I've learned to love the bomb.

I have always been an ineffective recruiter. Over time guys who actually signed with my teams ended up being my agents and built for me season after season. I'm not established in any way here so recruiting has been challenging. There are tons of FAs in the marketplace but none seem to want to sign contracts. I guess they are waiting for a different kind of team or a familiar face. I'll keep grinding and maybe I can pull this off.

About 3/4ths the people here are woodwork people to me. There are some I remember from back in GLB1 old days but for the most part I have no idea who half these people are.
