Way back when I mattered in this game, it depended on when in the offseason it is. At the beginning of the offseason so the other agent has time to find a new team? Then sure I upgrade, if it's later then that then no, I wouldn't.

Depends on the agent.

I generally only sign with owners I feel comfortable with, and so I'd expect them to come to me with any conflict like this for discussion. As an owner it would just depend o my relationship with the agent.

If a player is with the team awhile or a couple seasons, I like to keep that player on the team unless their build is incredibly out of order OR we run a different scheme and it's going to either hurt the other players playing time/how they're used on the team. If we're going to start running man and your guy is built to play zone, then it's not a good fit and not only will the team be effected but your player and his stats will also be effected in a few ways.

That is the key to what I do though, for my team. Just be fair. Have that level of integrity for everyone, from the time they come to the team to the time they leave, if I can. Sometimes it takes awhile to work things out and people that aren't on the other side really don't understand some of the work that gets put in and just want to point fingers. Eventually though, things get worked out. I'll work at it until it gets fixed or GLB2 comes up with a solution for the problem.

I feel that there's no player that's above the team. Sure, there's better builds but your player still isn't going to get favoritism just because he is. I do know though, that there's owners and their friends that put themselves first. I'd cut my player first, rather than somebody else. Most of the time, the coordinators on the team or others don't have players on the team, it makes it easier. If he isn't performing, then you might see a little less playing time because they'll be adjusted in the depth. I'll also let you know that through a PM so that you don't wonder what's happening. But not that much of a downgrade to where the player isn't going to see no playing time. A few plays might be taken away, I'd say around 10 at the most(or I'd hope something even can be worked out) but even still, I want to see everyone get around the same playing time. Don't get me wrong, winning is important and it is the main goal hopefully for most of us. Winning and having fun are my main goals for the game and for the people I recruit for our team and as the season progresses.

Communication is also key and I know there's many times on teams where they either just stop playing a player with no explanation, and I've seen players get cut either because somebody came along that was better or they felt the team needed an upgrade and the player wasn't important anymore. The problem typically is, the player has multiple players on the team and their other guy(s) were cut randomly without a PM. I think that's completely wrong and messed up if somebody has the power to just cut a player without any reason other than their own purposes. There should be something in the contract that you sign for your player or some way to stop that from happening. And definitely not happen without being told first about it.

My guys are usually used as backups for a few reasons. The first is, I want to keep the other persons player on the team. I like to build a rapport with them, and hopefully in the future they'll consider bringing more players to the team or currently(like the next season) bring players over if we need them. Another reason is, or was, that I wanted to make others happy. It's good when you can make people on the team feel content, feel it's just as much their team as it is yours and that's how I feel as well. The team I own belongs to everyone on it, not just the person who's name is above the word owner.

If I get to the off season and you've still got "expiring" next to your name, you're risking being cut and replaced. Can't afford to miss the best free agents on an assumption you'll sign and return.
