16 team divisions weren't gonna happen. We had a lengthy discussion about this on the server and here as well. It came to the compromise of 12 to even out divisions from 10. Not really sure what makes 16 any more appealing though. It's not like anything is ever going to match the nfl statistically speaking anyways.

But the big thing is giving the top two teams a bye helps filter out the occasional bad teams so that when it comes time to seed 1-4, you're prolly looking at the 4 best team in the league.
The first thought I had when I joined GLB2 was, "Damn, there are a lot of leagues and there aren't many teams in each league."
Personally, I think it would be cool if we had 32 teams in a league, 16 in a conference and 4 in 4 divisions per conference, just like the NFL. Winner of each division and 2 wildcard teams, with the 2 best records getting a 1st round bye. Then a Superbowl with the winner of each conference. You want to talk about rivalries...plus the league message board would be intense.
Obviously there would be a good number of teams left out but the remaining teams could form a smaller league and move to one of the 32 team leagues when attrition starts, which from what I am seeing, is a significant number of teams per season.
Eventually, you would get one hell of a 32 team league.

I disagree here. The teams that don't make the playoff still play the ladder games, they just have to take an extra "week" off due to and extra playoff game. If they quit because of that, they were going to quit anyway. Instead of crying, they should be trying to make their team better.

The admins already discussed the structure at length when we were in alpha stages.

Message board wouldn't be more intense and you would get a lot more shitty games. Plus the ladder would be useless because 32 teams are already in your league. Lame.

Why are you so against it? The length of the season won't change. Just 1 fewer regular season game and 1 extra playoff game. Plus you won't have teams throwing games at the end of the season to avoid having a "bad matchup" in the 1st round. The best teams would actually be rewarded.

Because your proposition sounds really boring.

No, it would make the league championship game mean so much more.

I don't see anything wrong. Looks like a fun, very competitive league. That struggling division makes the other two divisions very interesting. Even the bad division has an interesting race going on for the division winner.
The format isn't wrong. What would worry me about this picture if I were the devs is that so many people have obviously given up on the game in general (and probably even more in spirit who are merely hanging on out of obligation to their teams until the end of the season).

Eh it's hard to guess any sort of sustainability when we haven't even hit veteran tier with a single run yet.

You want to talk about parity..
Osprey has it

From top to bottom well besides the Orphans, any team 'can' win a game, and have proven so.

at the expense of the league games though. 6 of 16 teams dilutes the regular season compared to 4 of 12. One of the biggest issues with GLB1's league setup was the fact that 50% of the teams made the playoffs, leading to the lolregularseason refrain.
The way it works here is infinitely better. You damn well want to win your division, and the regular season absolutely matters. If you're playing for the wild-card, you're leaving your fate considerably outside your own control.

I truly doubt most people here will give the game that long a chance to prove itself.
