New teams get a rough start on the ladder; they start at the bottom and have to work their way up.
Osprey went through it just starting half a season late, but now seems to have just about recovered. Being in a league with teams more appropriately ranked will help.

For note, mostly for myself, as of right now all the new teams this season are, again, rated at the bottom of the ladder. This includes the new CPU teams in sophomore and seasoned leagues.

Sophomore team:

Seasoned team:

Worst team that isn't new, but is still around:

Went 9-21 last season.

Too bad there isn't a situation where you can prove a 0-28 team is either better than or equal to the new teams. I wonder if you get any negative value with a loss and only positive values with wins...?

Watching how the teams move at the top, it's pretty clear the elo rating is working right - teams move up with wins and drop with losses. At least once you have some rating points going.

I don't really know what's going on with teams when they are first created and corndog and bort seem to be convinced it's correct as-is, so I don't think we'll ever figure out what they're really doing.

I am not the sure the moving down is more related to losing as it is about other teams winning and your drop due to that.

You can see it happen during the day when one team plays and the teams near them have not. Then the other teams move when they play.

Top ten has been very volatile the last week or two. One loss would send any team from 1 to 5.
