Having a back pick up the blitz is pretty common in football.
If GLB is trying to make us build rounded players instead of specialists, this isn't exactly helpful. Like pottsman mentioned, I can ignore any and all pass blocking attributes on HBs, FBs and most likely TEs as well.
Holding a back in to block gives you one more blocker, but obviously one less receiver. It's a risk/reward. In addition, if you want that back to be any sort of help in pass pro, you're going to need to invest in the appropriate skills. Might people ALWAYS keep their HB or FB in? Maybe. But you might have people who tend to let them run routes. You might have people who do a little of both, depending on the opponent.
