You guys are thinking about this too much.

Run block awareness is what happens when the play is drawn up where you just block who's in front of you.
Lead Block awareness is what happens when your bot has to pull and run to a certain spot and then block who's in front of the ball carrier.

A center never pulls on any run/screen play. Neither does a Wr. So they don't have lead block awareness as a skill to level up as it's not something they will ever use unless playing out of position. Just look at the offensive plays and you can see which skill is needed on the run play. If your dot isn't pulling, it's not lead block awareness, it doesnt matter how far downfield you get from pancakes or just trying to find a defender to block, it's still run block awareness. If your dot is pulling, it's only lead block awareness. Don't complicate it more than that, it doesn't need to be more complicated.

I'm preeeetttttty sure that I heard lead blocking is important for pulling o-linemen, but I don't think that means it is the only time it is useful. Any time a bot is out in front, like a run blocking TE on an off-tackle or a FB going through the gap, there is a lead blocking awareness check.

Say for a spread play against 3 down linemen the guardsa re usually released and run free to pick up LBs... would that be considered lead blocking?
