build is closed, but you don't have any zone/man spec trait so should probably delete

edit: that is no surprise since it looks like it should be a failed awareness, but WHO KNOWS with these lolnotdots

My CBs and Safety's get beat like that all the time and they both have over 50 Man or Zone Awareness each. It's hard for me to believe that is what is too low for it to happen so often.

If you have 50 in those, my guess is you are slow and that is why you are getting beat.

To the OP, I think your quickness is extremely low. I like my CB's to have quickness and sprinting equal, helping with acceleration and cutting.

yeah, I figured I'd pump his coverage tech and footwork that seem to be doing the same or similar thing. Little cheaper right now.

EDIT: I wonder how these things actually work? Footwork when you are backpedaling, coverage tech when receiver runs the route and quickness for both?

Cheaper doesn't mean better. A player can be as smart as you like, but if he doesn't have physical skills, he'll get beat.

I call it the Kelly Jennings syndrome.

Plays like this:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/9033/1519941

have nothing to do with being slow. The CB has 40+ man awareness, the FS has 40+ zone awareness, but neither one notices the pass until after the ball is caught. I don't know the WR's awareness, but he notices it just in time.
It does seem to be harder to pass awareness checks on longer throws for the DBs, maybe?

Sure, if you're quicker/faster, you don't need to react as early and still be in position to make a play. But if you can't see the pass until the ball is caught, you can't be quick enough to make up for that.

Overall, though, I don't notice that sort of problem on my FS *that* often - he'll see the pass and react very, very frequently in zone, and 40+ zone awareness is still low enough that I expect Rookie mistakes.

I assure you, we told them there were serious problems with the pass coverage.

Here is how I tend to look at it.

WR sprinting/quickness/conditioning/footwork/balance - CB sprinting/quickness/conditioning/footwork/balance

WR Route Technique - CB Coverage Technique

WR Route Elusiveness - CB Man/Zone Awareness

Consistency and Heart both play into reducing the chances of bad rolls.

Keep in mind that all things being equal one guy will still have a good roll and one a bad and considering the stage of the game we are at with all attributes being low to medium there are going to be a ton of bad rolls.

So we're complaining out one play or does this happen often?

I don't know that these two are really quite opposed; they're certainly not opposed rolls like the elusiveness/awareness rolls might be for fakes.

I'm guessing Route Tech is hitting the route correctly; running to the right points, cutting at the right points, making the right angles when you cut. Quickness/footwork/sprinting (depending on the cut) helps you turn better and accelerate faster out of the cut. Coverage Tech is aiming your CB for the right spot on the coverage; similar to how Pursuit works for following ball carriers. I'll see DBs giving the wrong cushion after a cut, for example - probably poor coverage tech.

WR/CB interaction has always been complicated by the fact that the WR just has to turn, but the CB has to *notice* the turn, then react, then move with the WR, which requires being faster/quicker, and also having the awareness/technique skills to move in time. And then WRs have catching and CBs have deflecting and that seems to all work out. Except you have the QB gaining skill as well and all of a sudden you've got 2 dots getting better over 1 dot. That's why you don't want to leave guys 1 on 1 I guess. Hopefully things improve as more/better D plays get added, as you've kept mentioning there are some waiting in the wings.

It does help a bit that WRs now have 2 catching skills - hands and catch in traffic. I assumed that was in part to keep the skills more aligned.

derp plays happen from time to time

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/8500/1418637?player_id=15261
Why does the WR run away from the play?

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/8412/1388918?player_id=15261
Why doesn't the CB stay near the ball?

And I've seen a few times where an offensive Guard stays frozen around the original line of scrimmage when a long run play is dragging everyone else down field.

Probably all just buggy early game stuff.

Just interesting play. Not really complaining, wasn't sure if bad roll or build related.
