Footwork, man awarness, and quickness is good so u can respond quickly when a WR cuts. I've also started adding points to interception and deflection and it is paying dividends.

Seems to me that coverage tech trumps man awareness when it comes to responding to route cuts. Description on man awareness seems to only apply to after the ball is thrown.

I think that the best CBs will be the ones that didn't choose ball hawk or long reach, because they work against each other...
If you are hawk you have like no PD roll, if you are Reach you have 0 int roll.

Its really not that big a deal. INT is more costly than PD which is what makes Ball Hawk better, the cap hit isn't that big unless your attributes are fucked. Without early bloomer if you want the SP reduction on int its hard to do without real penalties if you dont use ball hawk. Int being one of the skills (as well as speed, agility, and to a lesser but real extent coverage tech) where a 5-10% sp reduction translates into 20-30 extra points in heart or snap reaction (filler stats)
On that note, I really dont see a point in ever going more than 1 strength on a CB which gets you all your caps before you even pick traits.
I think 9 spd / 9 agi / 9 awr / 3 Sta / 4 conf with workhorse is easily the best option for CB attributes. I don't see why you would ever not do the trifecta 9s, it feels kind of forced to be honest.

I can give you 1 word why 1 strength is a horrible idea:
Powerback

I almost think I'd take that risk. You're going to use Awareness, Speed, and Agility far more often than seeing a powerback 1v1 that far outside the tackles. I realize it will happen but not often enough to justify putting strength above one.

I dont think strength matters so much in stopping the outside run. Speed is better to get a chance to make a play, and as long as your tack tech is okay for your level the sim seems to be pretty forgiving outside of SA's. With that plus probably pursuit as your 7th or 8th priority its a decent insurance plan
I understand the notion that CBs are meant to cover WRs, but I think 1str is just taking it too far, what kind of tackling tech/power cap does 1 str leave you with?

You basically give up on hold ground, power tack, grip, intim, and pass rush power none of which were top 10 priority for me
You can take death grip if its really an issue, but I think hitting at speed and with tech makes up for it for the most part

Does strength play any role in the PD roll? Like knocking the ball loose after a catch or something.

probably falls under power tackling or strip

Well since strength plays into the WRs Catch in Traffic attribute I only assume it will do the same for CBs in their PD/Int roll or something.
