Game planning and scouting tips. (this is what I do anyway) (I will lose in the playoffs now because I am putting it all out there....lol)
1) Don't tag a player by archtype. Look at their stats. Some people like to use a RQB to do nothing but pass and someone else might use a deep passer archtype and make him a scrambling QB. Tag the player based on how he is used.
2) I like to click on the TE's players "Game Log" link. I will then look at their last 3,4 or 5 games just to see if he is used in both the pass game and run game. If the offense passes 100% of the time using a particular TE than I tag him to where I use my 100% pass defense. If that TE is used in both the run and pass game than I don't tag him at all and allow my "balanced defense" to be used.
3) I then look to see if a team always runs the ball to where their blocking TE is at. Take the Big I and S-Back Big formations where those damn counter plays kill you. If they always run the counter to the side where the blocking TE is than I will create a special defensive play and tag that TE so I can try and shut down that play. I did that against TazVikes a few times. They always ran the counter to their blocking TE side
4) I then use the GLB Scout Tool and I look at what my opponent does from each formation. A lot of people have tendencies and don't even realize it. If I see a team only pitches the ball from a certain formation than I will create a specific defensive play to be used so it eliminates a pitch when in that formation. I look at each and every formation and if they do a good job of run and pass from a formation than I use my "Balanced Defense". If I see a tendency than I create a play to remove that tendency.
