Two games down, three to go, time to revisit this thing. Race for that 8th playoff spot is still a tight one.

Playoff Locks:
Honolulu Hurricane Wife Carriers
Record: 12-1
Games left: Dragons, @Hugos, Mercenaries
Projected finish: 15-1
Worst finish: 13-3

Still don't see them dropping a game, but maybe they will rest their starters in the final two weeks?

Odessa Mojo:
Record: 11-2
Games left: @Wolves, @Clash, Gurupies
Projected finish: 14-2
Worst finish: 12-4

Mojo are in of course, but can still play a major part in deciding who will miss the playoffs. If they beat Carthage week 15 their fellow DS team most likely is out, if not then things will get very interesting.

Coxsackie HOOD Hugos
Record: 11-2
Games left: @Mercenaries, Carriers, @Vipers
Projected finish: 13-3
Worst finish: 11-5

Tough home stretch, but all that is is about for them is seeding anyway, and only one game, tonight @E-City, has relevance for final playoff spots.

Gold Coast Vipers
Record: 9-4
Games left: Skulls, @Dragons, Hugos
Projected finish: 11-5
Worst finish: 10-6

Surprisingly dropped the ball against South Otto, but unless they manage to do the same two more times they will still comfortably finish in a playoff spot.

On the bubble:
Dirty Island Gurupies
Record: 8-5
Games left: @Alpine, Royals, @Mojo
Projected finish: 10-6
Worst finish: 8-8

Have gotten themselves into a great position, but their stretch run is certainly not the easiest one and there is an outside chance they might lose out.

E-City Mercenaries
Record: 8-5
Games left: Hugos, Wolves, @Carriers
Projected finish: 9-7
Worst finish: 8-8

Suffered a major setback with their overtime loss to BSS, and due to tie breakers already mentioned looks as if they might need to get help from Alpine or Mojo to be safe, unless they can upset either Hugos or HHWC. Another misstep like the BSS one against Wolves will see them finish outside the playoffs.

Sunday Funday
Record: 8-5
Games left: Mice, @Thunder, Skulls
Projected finish: 11-5
Worst finish: 9-7

Loss to Gurupies was a slight setback, with these three remaining games they should be a lock for the playoffs regardless though.

Richey Royals
Record: 7-6
Games left: Clash, @Gurupies, Mice
Projected finish: 9-7
Worst finish: 7-9

Game against Carthage tonight will be huge, as they would hold tie breakers over Clash and Mercenaries even if they lose their remaining two with a win.

Carthage Clash
Record: 6-7
Games left: @Royals, Mojo, @Wolves
Projected finish: 7-9
Worst finish: 7-9

A loss tonight might already end their playoff hopes, and even if they win they likely will still need to upset fellow DA team Odessa. That loss to Alpine was a major setback.

Out of it:
Alpine
Record: 5-8
Games left: Gurupies, Mice, Thunder
Projected finish: 7-9
Worst finish: 6-10

Already played spoiler once for Carthage, can they do it again? Either way kudos to the youngest roster in WL who will finish just barely outside the playoff picture the way things currently stand.

Rhode Island Red Wolves
Record: 5-8
Games left: Mojo, @Mercenaries, Clash
Projected finish: 5-11
Worst finish: 5-11

Still won’t rule out that they can pick up a win down the stretch or maybe even two, but I reckon Mojo are jsut too good for them and Carthage and E-City are fighting for their WL life, so likely no dice for the Wolves.

South Otto Fragile Porcelain Mice
Record: 4-9
Games left: @Funday, Alpine, @Royals
Projected finish: 4-12
Worst finish: 4-12

Upset W over Vipers, only to lose to Monarchs the next game? Wildly inconsistent, but might be able to pull off another upset?

Rocky Mountain Thunder
Record: 3-10
Games left: @Monarchs, Funday, @Alpine
Projected finish: 4-12
Worst finish: 3-13

Monarchs game does not look as easy as before anymore.

Black Sea Skulls
Record: 3-10
Games left: @Vipers, Monarchs, @Funday
Projected finish: 4-12
Worst finish: 3-13

Got one upset win over E-City to make me eat my words from the original thread, can they do it again?

Machu Pichu Hidden Dragons
Record: 2-11
Games left: @Carriers, Vipers, @Monarchs
Projected finish: 3-13
Worst finish: 2-14

Playing out the home stretch without too much effort I assume.

London Monarchs
Record: 1-12
Games left: Thunder, @Skulls, Dragons
Projected finish: 1-15
Worst finish: 1-15

Having gotten their first W out of the way there is a chance that London might actually finish with 4 of them. Not very likely, but at least possible, something hardly anyone suspected just a few days ago.

"Kudos" for winning 38% of their games and taking up a WL spot that could've gone to a team that likely would've performed better?

Um, okay, sure. Kudos.

We did nothing. GLB said we were next in line to stay based on the rules they have for promotion/demotion.

Likely would have performed better? I don't know about that, not too many teams coming up from Pro as the what, 5th place finisher, and manage to get what will probably be the #10 spot in a WL conference. But I bet you can find plenty of example of those kind of teams, right?

That aside, like a couple of teams before them Alpine kept their WL spot according to the rules, and at the end of the day will end up with a better record than a lot of former and current WL teams who on paper have/had a far more competitive roster, so yes, kudos to what they have achieved this season.

Thanks ZZ, I actually thought we would win a few games when we accepted to keep the spot, but that we actually had a very realistic shot at making the playoffs was a surprise to me (wins against MPHD and Mojo, which were the two games we very well could have won, would have put is in that position). So in retrospect, I don't really regret accepting the position, even if it costs us what would be a realistic shot at the WL next season with the roster finally hitting plateau (we just beat the #1 seed in our Pro conference 63-14).

Anyway, I have no problems understanding that many before the season thought we should have declined the option to stay as they thought we would go 0-16 losing games by 100 points. Looking back now, I find it a bit more surprising that people still think we aren't competitive. They are however entitled to have that opinion, and 5-8 is certainly not great by any standard.

Novus is just mad that his clever way of staying in WL is participating in Asau's team forum
