11/15 from 50+?! SICK! What the heck are you guys feeding your players? Just curious, what is his longest kick on the season so far?

Longest kickoff was 80 yards for a touchback and Longest field goal made was 58 yards. He keeps insisting he's going to hit a 60+ yarder by the end of the season lol.

I'd like to throw a monkey wrench into the mix. Is the MVP the best player in the league or the most valuable to a team? Does a great player on an excellent team mean is the most valuable? Or does a great player on a mediocre team mean more to that team?

I believe the MVP is the guy who makes his team better by being on it. He is the guy who wins games when they shouldn't be won. He is the guy that gets the team to the playoffs when they wouldn't have if he wasn't there.

Just my $0.02. Not a knock on the heavy hitters, just a discussion (as the thread title indicates)

I've seen an 81 yard kickoff, not sure how that works

Yeah, the term MVP means something different to different people. A lot of teams wouldn't be the same if they didn't have their heavy hitter. The Gangsters may not be doing as well without Bob throwing passes, the Bears may not have as much of a running game without Randolf, stuff like that. The heavy hitters on the killer teams are often just as valuable as the superstar on the mediocre team. Often, those top notch players elevate the team from mediocre or good to great. I'd think that the best player in the league WOULD be the most valuable to their team, also. While that may differ a bit in the NFL (you have the whole "intangibles" idea), all we have to go off of in GLB are stats.

Take Tom Brady this year. As much as I don't like the guy, the Patriots would not have been the same without him (though you could say the same for Randy Moss). Had the Packers gone 16-0 instead of the Patriots, Favre would have taken the award instead, I feel.

They must have spotted the ball on the kickoff a few inches off the 30 yard line for the tee-off.

Hard to pick a DE over Moose, but some credit has gotta be thrown to Boomer McDude in Alpha. 34 hurries, 11 sacks, 54 tackles and only 1 missed tackle all season. The guy has been mr. consistency. I'd also expect a sizable jump in those numbers as Perth finishes out the season with a pretty easy schedule.

By the way, can we please get Samoa and LVSB out of this league please? Jake Roberts will never get any recognition with their RBs around

Well... Randolf has been in this league since its inception. So I think he wants out more then you want him out.

You're gonna have to put up with one of us next year.

Two of you if I have anything to say about it.

Ok...I have to drop one more name into the mix...
Joel Robinson out of Fiji.

He is having a stellar year at WR. Through 11 games he is about 400 yards ahead of the rest of the pack. And is showing an insane amount of improvement over last season. He had just over 800 yards through 16 games last year. He will more than double that this year, I am sure.

Keep up the hard work Joel!

And for you Special Teamers out there...

I am enjoying the continuous show that Red Barchetta, Devon "ANYTIME" Hestor, and Darren Sanderson are giving us. Its going to be a tough call at this position with just 5 games to go in the season.

I just got traded to this league and I was wondering if the stats from my previous games this year count or if I just don't stand a chance at an MVP nomination.

Ryan Meis would be leading in TD receptions and Kick Return TDs

I've posted my vote

As for stats from previous games: I really don't think it is too terribly fair to completely count them, since other leagues can have tons of cupcake teams. However, if you light this league up big time, they will be taken into account.

However, the league MVP award is pretty solidly locked up at this point
