Or a missed/made check made this dot blitz which allowed the HB to have the outside with no containment and he got an easy 5-10 yards instead of a loss of yardage.

It all just seems like a big RNG game for DC's and OC's just play the numbers game. Does anyone realistically scout out for single coverage anymore? It all just seems to be a waste of time.

Obviously builds aren't "irrelevant" (says 99% of National Pro)....but I think we have just come to a common place of builds are very little the difference between making great plays or not in the WL and thus it is mostly boring.

well you can't cover the backs worth a shit in man coverage. So it's very easy to send guys deep with the backs underneath. They get open every single time. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Just a matter of them not getting KL'd or the qb makes the always impressive bad pass.

Playoffs start in a week
(This marks the start of the season for some of us)

True in the sense of blitzing. However there are tons of things about last seasons sim that were pretty bad too. I just stand by my statement in main that the sim has advanced beyond its time and we went too far with the wrong additions and unfortunately there is no turning back. It is extremely difficult to make suggestions that would really end up improving this game to the point where I would go back to actively putting in my time and effort into winning each and every game like I once did.

Hopefully whatever GLB's next game is, it is as enjoyable as the first 10-15 seasons this game was and keeps that pace.

yeah this is probably the part of the sim that annoys me the most. who cares about the blitzing debate or the chuck it deep and pray debate when an offense can literally control the clock through passing instead of rushing. go ahead and pick up 5-10 yards 80% of the time at any particular time thanks to underneath routes. they have been money

but I also use cover 3 about 10x as much as I should so

edit: actually, on second thought, I fucking have to use deep cover 3 all the time or else the QB will have a 75% completion rate for passes over 20 yards. gg OCs it's been a pleasure this season

I feel the level has dropped quite a bit during the last few seasons. Alpine has no business being locked for the playoffs already with the roster we have.

Since about week 4 I've pretty much just ran 3 versions of cover 3. I think we'd given up the 2nd least points in WL. Just stop the fake bombs and hope some dot on D gets the RNG play that kills a drive. IT'S EXCITING JUST TRY IT

bhall bro, you need to start drinking more again because you're a big downer. The reality is that you're exaggerating the changes to the sim's effect on your experience. It's really that you've just become burnt out from the grind of doing this for years and thus you are now more prone to nitpicking rather than accepting that this is a math based game attempting to simulate a real life game that everyone even has a different opinion of. There has ALWAYS been parts of the sim that sucked, really pretty much always. It is actually probably closer to good than it's ever been. People complain about this and that and why they don't enjoy the game as much as they once did, but the reality is that it's not the sim, it's the person. YOU have changed. YOU don't enjoy the game because you're a human being and the same reason you still aren't cranking up Tecmo Super Bowl on Nintendo anymore or playing Myst on the PC. Could you imagine if you spent as much time playing Monopoly as you have playing GLB in the past 4 years?

this is kinda how I feel. I mean the sim will never be perfect, it cant be. It will always be changing because the builds will always be changing thus there will never be balance with out some changes. There is also always things that are good and bad about the sim. and I agree that this is about as good as the sim has been. But yea besides the blitz what else is really wrong with the sim? How long has it been to where we can point to there only really being 1 thing wrong with the sim. If the blitz worked in this sim, with out changing anything else in this sim, I think the sim would be as good as it can get.

well, screens for another example and there's some little things here or there that aren't great, but there's always been plenty of things to point out. Overall, this is one of the most balanced sims we've ever seen from an offensive perspective.

Nah, what bhall said is spot on. When he talks about the boredom that comes from playing the same DCs over and over then that's being burned out, but the criticism of the sim is very accurate. Most of that comes from the feeling that coordinators have lost control of what happens. Except for those insane HB routes JT & zero pointed out, offense now isn't about finding weaknesses in defenses and targeting a particular receiver, but rather just wondering which WR has something fire to get open. Meanwhile on defense you're putting as many guys in coverage as possible and hoping someone up front gets pressure on the quarterback. No one is dictating the action anymore, it's all waiting to see what the RNG spits out. That said, maybe it's a good thing for non-coordinators, but it sucks for us.
