There are a couple of places about 4 hours out of town in the suburbs of Dallas called Austin, Lockhart, and Dripping Springs that are pretty great.

But yeah, I don't know about any good places in Dallas. Central Texas is where it's at for bbq. I honestly can't think of a restaurant of any style in Dallas that I really like.

lol, no. The Salt Lick is great because it's all you can eat and you can bring a cooler of your own beer, but it isn't close to the best in Texas.

Wine more your style? All you can drink beer and BBQ is mine

Not sure about Dallas, but this place in Ft Worth is good:

Bailey's Barbeque
826 Taylor Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102

... and this place in Arlington has pretty good ribs too:

Bodacious Barbeque - http://realtexasbarbeque.com/
1206 East Division Street, Arlington, TX 76011

I prefer pulling a cooler up to the line at Franklin's and drinking good beer while getting the best brisket in the world.

If by "good beer" you mean Shiner, then your "taste" is automatically disqualified.... just sayin'.

Does everyone live in texas? Other than feeling sorry for people, surely there are good bbq recommendations outside of that state

No, but I used to.

Honestly, the best BBQ I have ever had was in Albany GA. Sadly the place (Country's BBQ) closed down years ago.

Hottest BBQ sauce I ever tasted was in Des Moines IA at Big Daddy's.... also closed down after Big Daddy passed away.

The best brisket I've ever had. It is worth the wait and then some.

lol. Shiner is a decent black lager, but I'm currently aging 6 Dogfishead 120 IPAs; a Dogfishhead Squall; and an Allagash, Interlude, Four, Black, and Fluxus; and a Stone Bourbon Barrel Aged Belgium Old Guardian. I've got some more, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. I'll figure out what I want to take with me on Saturday.

The bbq is different in other states. Most of them go with pork over beef, which I don't like as much. KC is supposed to be good, but I don't want meat that has to be slathered in sauce to taste good. If you want the best beef brisket in the world, come to Texas.
