Mine are open all the time. Why waste your time opening and then closing them again?
1) nothing about your build is so great that it will generate a bunch of people trying to copy it; and
2) if the other team is going to gameplan around your builds, they have too much time on their hands.
I guess if your builds suck, having them open might make it harder to get recruited, but at least owner's are getting the player they deserve.

I honestly doubt I have any builds that people would care to see/couldn't figure out on their own. At this point I don't think anyone has a super build secret that no one knows about
