Yeah you are right as one game shouldn't really make that much of a difference except if you need that game to make the playoffs and you have to play the toughest team in the other division. Honestly I think it is just best to randomly select that game because I could see so many downfalls for best against worst along with the best against best.
I have to agree with Drachir here, I think that in another few seasons when the leagues are more balanced, a random interconference closer would be best. I feel for Cedric and Matt and co. now though, for sure
