not totally true. Only with getting to the POs, the teams there are still damn damn good at the top half

Yeah, maybe not so different after all. According to my rankings:

Alpha - #5, #6, #7, #9, #12, #13, #15, #17, #22, #24, #27, #33, and four unranked
Zeta - #2, #3, #4, #8, #10, #11, #19, #20, #28, #29, #31, #34, and four unranked

Pretty sure that Bort doesn't stay up at night wondering how he is going to split network teams into conferences.

My ratings also suggest the conferences are pretty even - it would put Alpha as slightly stronger overall, slightly deeper, but it's a slight difference.
Of course my ratings aren't a predictor blah blah blah.

to me it points to more of a glaring problem that all the b, c, d network teams are walking through Pro

obviously bort cant' do much to improve things in Pro but before long WL is just going to be comprised of 4 network affiliates

Well if certain networks build really good dots, and build enough for 4 teams to be at the highest level at the same time, and they OC/DC well enough - why shouldn't they have 4 teams in WL?

to a point sure. i guess i'd just like to avoid situations where the B team rolls over for the A team, in the playoffs or otherwise. perhaps too pollyanna

No, the problem lies when team a rolls over for team b so team b can make the playoffs and remain in wl
