That's pretty quick for a level 17. I think the CB is just much faster than the WR, so the WR can't catch him to engage in a block. Then the CB, because of his low vision, doesn't recognize that it's a running play.

Based on the 2 replays we have, I'd say this is not a bug.

I agree. I think he just doesn't spot it's a run and is attempting to cover the WR who can't get close enough to block him.

NOT LIKELY A BUG

even if the WR was slower, what is the CB actually reacting to? not the ball carrier obviously.

As far as I know, he only has 2 options. Read run and head for the ball carrier, or cover his assignment the WR. Since he didn't read run, he is reacting to the WR which he believes is running a route because the WR can't get close enough to engage.

I'm on the fence on this topic.

Either the CB's in the two links are failing consecutive vision checks to "see the run" or there is some kind of problem.

Most running plays (especially 3 WR sets) have WR's running a route still, CB just probably never passed the vision check to realize that it was a running play and stayed in his m2m assignment. WR's only start run blocking when the CB turns around.

I think in the rare event that this is happening, the CB's are failing to realize it's a running play.

So I'm gonna go with NOT A BUG on this one.

ISSUE DETERMINED NOT A BUG.
