I like this play. I agree it looks funky by GLB standards, but it's actually a fairly realistic outcome, and I'm glad to see a replay like this. Honestly, deflections by CBs should do stuff like this more often (maybe not travel 6 yards, but hang in the air longer, etc.)

I like it.

Seriously...have somebody throw a football at you with a fair amount of zip behind it and try to swat the ball back towards the thrower w/o catching it and throwing it. I don't think you'll get 6 yards.

Crazy things happen when a ball hits a helmet. A 6 yard deflection would be rare, but not completely unrealistic.

but does the ball accelerate after it hits the helmet?

A) It depends on what direction the helmet is moving.

B) We're only seeing movement on the XY plane. The ball's momentum on the Z-axis could be redirected into XY plane after contact, resulting in what appears to be an acceleration from our vantage point.

To me it looked like the receiver didn't hang onto the ball and the LOLB deflected it, then it was a case of right place right time for the interception

Play by play says the pass was deflected in the example. It did not say deflected in the OP's example.

True, but it is an example of a ball going 6 yards from point of impact.

Obviously, the TE has terrible vision. The play was a hitch-and-pitch, but the WR was long gone. The TE could not see very well and pitched the ball to the CB.

Not a bug.

Found a bug -- It's "hook-and-ladder" not "hitch-and-pitch"

j/k

odd play for sure.

after looking at it some more it doesnt really look as crazy. Kind of like Hik said you cant really see how high it bounces are in the sim. I am going to mark this as Not Likely A Bug
