That's the strength of schedule rankings. You're 12th in the Lion Conference in the RPI.

We already beat the Impalas so this is stupid to me.

It has to do with the fact that the Nightmares average opponent has a 44% win percentage and the Impalas average opponent has over 60% win percentage. The fact that your next two opponents are a combined 0-12 won't help your RPI either. That's why I may include things like strength of victory (scoring margin) in the adjusted RPI if people want me to continue to do it.

I understand exactly what it is, but it puts too much on the overall. I dont see how you can rank a 5-0 team second behind a 4-1 team when that team's loss came against said 5-0 team. That fact is not considered by these rankings.. which makes it flawed.

I didn't rank the teams. It's an index. Once we get farther into the season and schedules even out, this won't be much of a useful tool. It's a predictor. Not everything's going to perfect. I understand, you want your team to be number one. Obviously, you have proven that you can beat the current number one. If you continue to win, maybe you will see your team at the top. For the time being, check out Borsdt's power rankings, where I'm sure you'll have the top spot. I'm simply reporting these numbers as another way to look at these conferences taking into account strength of schedule. These are not the be all and end all of rankings. I'm sure you don't understand the BCS either, where an undefeated team can be left out of the championship game. These numbers are simple math; you can run them yourself. I mentioned in the post to take them for what they're worth, knowing that a Nigeria Nightmares or Gold Coast Corsairs representative might have a few qualms with them. I understand if you think they're flawed. If you want to make some rankings based on your opinion, feel free to do so, but these have nothing to do with opinion, simply results coupled with difficulty of schedule.

Sizz,

First - I love the icon. Steel Reserve is some low quality beer. Does the can still claim that it contains "nearly twice the ingredients of regular beer"? We have been afraid to purchase it since we read that.

Second - All systems are flawed to some degree (as I'm sure you already know). I didn't realize that 50% of the ranking is based on schedule, that seems really high, but I don't know how to change it without creatinga another problem. If I did, I would tell the NCAA, then they could solve this BCS/NCAA tourney selection committee mess they have.

However, even if you do settle this on the field, you can still get a situation where one team clearly outplays the other and still loses simply because of bad officiating(see Nightmare/Impala game).

Yea, that was a long post to take a dig at your victory, but I'm an offensive lineman and asucrutch and realdeal22 are on the Impalas management team, so I have to protect them. Plus creating beef between teams only heightens the excitement. Since it appears our two teams will be meeting again in the playoffs, I submit that we should generate some false bad blood.

I wouldn't call the Impala's inability to score in the redzone bad officiating....

If Cal is 5-0 and USC is 4-1 and Cal has beaten USC then most of the time Cal is going to be ranked higher.. thats my point. The guy that says I dont get it is the one that really doesnt get it.
