Almost as good as Nickelback.

great in their own ways, but definitely different. nickelback took a popular pre existing genre (hard rock) and perfected it. linkin park created something entirely new by taking a relatively new and accessible genre (rap metal) and making it radio friendly while still being densely layered and interesting. When it's all said and done, Hybrid Theory is going to prove to be one of the most influential albums of the last 20 years.

did you miss the part where rick rubin produced their last album? or the part where it reached number one on the billboard 200? or the part that anybody who likes good music likes them?

I missed all of those parts. They are awful.

Don't forget that LP also showed brilliance by collaborating with Jay-Z and taking mash-ups into the mainstream. Definitely a revolutionary group.

collaborating with jay-z isn't really surprising, top artists of different genres often collaborate, but you're right, the manner in which they collaborated is another example of how creative this band is. Would any of us know who Girl Talk, Max Tannone, 2ManyDJs or Danger Mouse are if it weren't for linkin park? doubtful.

why would i be shitting you? I always wondered listening to their music, what EXACTLY made those songs so perfect. in an issue of canadian musician a while back, chad stated that his method for writing songs was to analyze all these top 10 hits over twenty years and figure out what made them hits...was it the guitar riff in the chorus? the yeahs yeahs? and then he copied them for instant commercial success! clearly the man is a genius, but he comes off very bitter that despite the record sales, critics hate him. his arguement always seems to be "yeah? if my record sucks so bad, then how come 8 million people bought it? huh?". It's funny how all these local bands think they are being unique in their song writing, when really, the reason no one likes their band mainstream wise (what really matters), is because they are not following the correct format. You shouldn't start a band and complain about fame if your not following the correct format.

top 10 hits are hits for a reason.
