Congrats BMac. I know from a few nights on Ventrillo how much time and effort you put into game planning.

Wow I'm really shocked that crackertown lost. I don't know what to say, it's probably one of the biggest upsets in PW history. I really didn't see this coming.
I think you over estimate how good crackertown is or under estimate the rest of the competition.....In this sim there is not much difference between the good and/or great teams....
Congrats to all the teams that made the championship games and good luck to BNI and SOA in the finals.
Should be interesting to see what mess Bort and Co can come up with this offseason

I think he's saying that because of how dominant the last team I Head Coached.. S17 Surly Goats. This Crackertown team had a little bit better builds than the Goats.. trust me when I say we had phenomenal builds on this team. Difference can't be that much in 1 season though and game planning wins out most of the time. And SOA put in the better game plan today. Hindsight is 20/20, but I think we were too conservative on offense and there's a few plays in this season's sim that are tough to defend (especially when you try to double WRs like I do)..
As for the Goats comparison... I know the sim has changed but there's not alot I would do different with our builds.. maybe a little bit more strength on our LBs.. but that's it. We had no weaknesses in our dots and 20+ Level 14 players, just didn't put the right AI together today. SOA had 2 dots that were Level 11 too..
we already have a scrimmage with FG tomorrow to figure out how to stop some of the better plays in this season's sim.

All I know is that going into the season, and the playoffs this is absurd. I feel like this will be the first season in the history of PW gold where the winning team isn't a powerhouse. Nobody talked AT ALL about SOA during the season and were kind of written in as the "#7 seed that gets crushed in the first round" They have proven a lot to me tbh. BNI handed my own ass to me last round and when I thought I had some good builds on D, they were thrashed. I do think it would have been closer had I had more time, but some of the gaps they found were great and I can do nothing but congratulate them both.
I feel like these playoffs define what PW gold is, you know, any given day, any team can beat any other team and sometimes the teams that win always lose. Like, Maine and FT easily got to the second round as usual, Gerr broke his 1st round exit streak, there was an 8 seed getting to the conference championship...it was just a great playoffs and I am happy to have gotten that far...I'll be extra motivated for next season and am not going to stop without the big trophy.
GL to BNI and SOA, you guys deserve it. Go BNI!

I'm not one to brag or gloat. What I learned from 5 years trying to make it to Gold, is that its not how you do in the Regular Season, its how you perform in the Playoffs. For 5 seasons we basically dominated our Conference only to be surprised by an outstanding team in the playoffs (IE. Lunch Box, Long Island Knights PW, Loretto Panthers) I've finally realized that its all about the end builds of PW and taking the time to scout your opponents in the playoffs moreso then the Regular Season games. I was just happy to finally make it to PWG this season and I set our goals rather low to not be disappointed if we got spanked this season. We started hot with a weak schedule and got beat up later in the season. If your willing to put the time in, you can compete with any team in PW.

Alot of good points by zmj44 and bmac...
The sim does need a little work at the Pee Wee level but having #1 seeds upset in the playoffs makes this game even more fun.
And.. the sim was so different this season. I haven't had to worry about the WR1 screen in Singleback since Season 11. And don't forget, this is football.. sometimes players make plays .. the HB dump off in WeakI the SOA back made a play and scored a TD. I do think the HB coverage needs to be improved, but it doesn't need to be perfect coverage every time.. just because you have 1 defender set to HB weak - shouldn't mean you stop that play 100% of the time.
Our game was decided by AI and that's how it should be decided. I knew some of the plays that SOA had success with were going to be run because Maine exposed my Ds with those plays. The adjustments we made didn't work. I tried to get a scrimmage setup (the day before) for the morning of... but it was too late. Maine game was on Christmas day, so I tried to stay away from GLB after that game.

Congrats BMAC and SOA on making it to the Championship. Having played against you and been the spoiler in a couple of those 5 seasons, I have great respect for you. Good Luck tomorrow.

Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to underestimate rest of the competition. There is a reason why everyone here is in gold I know the sim has been inconsistent and strange at times but the guys in crackertown are responsible for winning 4 gold titles (3 mccollums, 1 dony+jstrong) This was the first time where mccollums failed to make it to final as a headcoach. He made it to finals in every attempt in gold previously. He took a break last season.
So I wasn't overestimating them since his accomplishments really speak for itself. And I still think despite the sim changes great teams still enjoys a significant advantage. Sim has changed every season but we always see the same teams, same owner/coordinators in tournaments and in playoffs. And even though SOA is new in gold they are extremely old school and has been one of the best silver teams for quite some time.
I don't look too much into recent results. To get respect here you have to be good for a very long time. It is why I made those comments toward mccollums. Unless someone else replicate his achievements of winning all the major tournaments and winning 3 gold league championship, I don't see why people shouldn't take him highly or consider this a big upset.
This isn't to knock on SOA though. They did a great job this season. And the way the sim is built this season they might probably be the favorite here even though we do have a pretty good all time record against them. It should be a good game, GL!
