Updated the script so that it will start giving ranking deltas each week (this is first week so no deltas). Also changed rankings to be based on Yards Per Attempt instead of Total Yards. Felt much better then having teams who do 100 passes a game for crappy yards as being ranked better then teams doing 20 passes a game for 4 times the ypa.

It is a ruby script (only works with ruby 1.8.x not ruby 1.9.x) that can be pulled down from

If you need to install ruby, this is the windows download link: http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/72085/rubyinstaller-1.8.7-p302.exe

I think the only gem that needs to be installed is json. That can be done like

gem install json

Then you can just run it like

ruby Ranking.rb 131 -u mylogin -p mypass

Might be nice for somebody else to be able to generate these rankings since I'm going on vacation next week and will likely be gone until the new year.

Yup. I wrote all of it from scratch actually. All the ones I saw were "flawed" in my opinion.

Because those greasemonkey scripts are very limited in there functionality and won't support the trending analysis that I do. Plus javascript doesn't have some built-in functionality that ruby does so I'd have to write a lot of code to do the same thing. A script that works on any OS (even Android) by anyone was just the better way to go to achieve the desired results. And since it caches the page results, it allows for off-line development as well so I can do things like changing the formulas and such without having to be logged in to see if it works.

Of course I did originally start off with a tweak of the greasemonkey ranking scripts during the original ones but as I wanted to do more it became impractical to stick with it. I'm glad of that as well because recently I've switched from Firefox to Chrome anyway so I'd hate to start up another browser just to run a ranking

Makes sense to me.

Updated the ranking formula to have a better "quality of win" effect on the rankings. Winning against a crappy team is not worth as much as winning against a good team and consequently, losing is a loss regardless of if they were good or bad. Hopefully these new rankings reflect greater accuracy. Sounds 'wrong' but overall the rankings appear to be more accurate to me. Go figure.
