No, I went to Tennessee.

I meant to say it seems to have had the opposite affect. Sorry for the confusion.

No I think Gator is seeing the same as me, promotions INCREASE the sales of that item ... Seems logical, but not what we were told would happen.

It appears my post was overlooked, was there a difference in concession income between the two games, or just the amount of a particular product being sold?

Yes I am smoking crack apparently.

I was reading that backwards that his promotion was for the game where less drinks were sold.

Marking likely a bug

and one more time.........

In my particular case...there was a negligible difference in total income.

Game #1 was $ 1,324,854
Game #2 was $ 1,316,798

That's a reduction of $ 8,056.

There were 1,486 fewer soft drinks sold on the non-promo day at $ 4.50 per drink. That's a reduction of $ 6,687.

That said...the point is that no other item sold more or less from one game to the next by more than 204 units or 1.07%. The item linked to the promo changed by 1,486 units and nearly 10%.

Without promotion - $315,763.00
WIth Promotion - $322,629.00

800 more beers * 6.50 = 5200

That info is enough for me to call this a bug. I just wanted to confirm that both the numbers of concessions sold along with the income both changed in somewhat significant mannor.

To sum it up, free ___ promotions are causing teams to sell more of a certain product, causing that concession to sell more than normal, when Catch said that this shouldn't be the case. Two agents have proved this, thats enough for me. First verification.

Knee Jerk reaction is to say no way is this a bug... but...

I'm gonna have to actually do some research on this one. Some decent evidence, but I'm not convinced that the sales would even be tied to the promotion in the code. If they wanted it to tie to Morale, they might have just linked it straight to morale and not changed a thing in the concession sales code.

Off to hit the research!

I am in agreement with rob on this one.
I believe that GLB-wide even less is known about concession sales than certain parts of the sim that come through the bugs forum.... and on top of that promotions which are new this season.
With the only person(s) knowing how concessions truly work being admin(s), I believe that this particular thread should go to Catch for verification.

Does anyone have a link to where Catch said that promotions should have 0 effect on sales? Assuming that assertion is correct, it seems fairly obvious that it's not "working as intended" and hence a bug if other products are showing <1% deltas on average and ~10% for the product being promoted.

Only question I have is whether this sort of "single-product outlier" ever happens in two games where you do NOT have a promotion running, in which case the fact that this strange behavior "happened to occur at the same time as a promotion" would be coincidental rather than causal, but my intuition is that seems the less likely scenario.

Ha, sorry... I read through the thread and by time I got to the end had forgotten that original link. Thank you.

Still would like to see some examples of concessions sales from two consecutive non-promo games to get a sense of whether this single-product outlier phenomenon is fairly random occurring vs. specifically tied to promotion days.

Not having been a team owner or involved in team ownership aspects, I'm going to hands off on this one, but I do agree looking at some examples of similar scored games (with similar fan support/attendance/whatnot, so usually close together) with no (or identical) promotions wouldn't be a bad idea either, just to see if single-product sales tend to have some outliers once in a while already. Do records go back far enough to look at prior season data or is that stuff current season only?
