I would like the results of this, penalties have always plagued MMD in big games and playoffs. I sacrificed my teams builds around the Day 20 mark after we were averaging 10 O-Line penalties a game over a 4-5 game stretch. I think it bit us in the ass in the end as my team kinda went downhill after that and although our penalties cut in half, our line was getting brutalized and we started losing quite a bit.

I think it's random, no matter what you do to try and fix it. Ive tried just about everything in the book on a few teams. They still come and Short Bus gets hit in bunches. We will get 3 in a row on many occasions. Ive seen players with poor vision and confidence get less than players with high vision, confidence and stamina. I honestly thing it's not tied to anything except a roll of the dice. You roll the dice enough times you'll get yahtzee!

I think for sure there is a random aspect to it, which is implied in the word roll, but I do think it has everything to do with your morale, stamina, and your build. I think we at the pee-wee level lack the SP needed to really effect the outcome, and I too would suggest treating this like its not an issue, as with no attention at all to any of these factors my Dragons team (lolsilver) has had very few penalties to speak of, guess we just roll well.

I've always found that following seem to impact:

Vision
Current Morale
Formation
Down
Distance left to go

Ever notice that you seem to get a lot more penalties on 3rd or 4th and short?
Ever notice that you seem to get more penalties when you are in goalline formation?
Ever notice that you seem to get more penalties in games where you started getting them early?

I don't think formation effects it, thats just my opinion, I think you are just seeing the correlation because the Goalline is often only run in the clutch situations that you mentioned seem to cause more penalties.

No, I mean that when you run the goalline formation, the defense has a 100% blitz. I get the feeling that the higher the number of blitzers, the more likely the O-line will jump the snap to try and block them.

Vision - Disagree, players with 50 still got them consistantly
Current Morale - never checked
Formation - True, goalline like you were saying
Down - 3rd and 4th mostly
Distance left to go- Short yardage, always when you only need 1 freaking yard it turns to 6

I get a ton on first down lately

I'll agree vision probably isn't the way to fix this on the pee-wee level, but it does apply...

Current Morale I can say I have done enough research to ensure this effects it.

The formation I disagree with, I agree that maybe number of blitzers effects the confidence roll, but this is based on number of blitzers, which is always high in the goal line, not the formation.

Down/Distance, its really just clutch situations, red zone included, score being an important factor here.

First down I think just has a lot to do with how your team just did the drive before....but I'll have to study this a bit more.

We had a Copper Tourney Final lastnight, and they had 11 for 55. I haven't a clue how or why there were so many in a two game span. If I do figure it out, there will be alot of pissed off opponents.

I concur on In Game Morale being a heavy factor - My D-line had at the end of the season between 5 and 10 in Aura and I offer the 13 penalties by GA in our final scrim as an example. http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=1190752
