I think any successful school or team gets that. Look at UF, OSU, USC, UT, The Lakers, The Celtics, The Yankee's, the Redsox, The Cowboys, The Steelers, etc...

I think the issue isnt so much people latching on to teams that they have no "connection" to as it is how loyal they are. Im a die hard Cowboy fan and feel entitled to be because im Texas born and raised, but I also have no problem with joe-schmo Cowboy fan who lives in New York who latched on to the team back in the 70s and still roots for them today. If someone's willing to cheer and be loyal to a team/school then by all means Ill consider them a true fan.

Now, all that said, any short horn fan can go to hell <3

I go see the Royals to watch the good teams.

I watch the Chefs to fight off insomnia.
