Concerned there will be a problem with first step...basically, OT shoots backwards TOO fast leaving inside passrush wide open.

I was thinking Pummel for my LOT. He was ROT last year so has over 100 str so I don't think I will take balance. Didn't think about First Step. Anyone have experience with FS on a LOT?

I asked him a Q via PM.

Pummel sounds good to me. The vast majority of speed DEs only have 50-60 confidence at the most, so should really work well.

what about quick cut?

That already happens. Maybe he will be able to recover faster with FS. Of course I really do not know. I like FS more for run blocking tbh.

So we still aren't sure about pummel or strong arm...

I would love strong arm but im afraid it only effects run blocking....Pummel seems pretty good..

Well good thing Strong Arm a pass blocking SA then. Click on any guard and look at the 2nd Pass Blocking SA.

As you can tell, I am a newbie at OLine... Building Oline since they are cheap and I have a LOT of experience building DTs.

sad to think they'd give us an option of recommended SA's for a LOT and then read this post and hear some of them "might" not work for the position. That's very misleading, why even recommend it for the positon then? Might as well sell me a flux capacitor for a pinto!

I was also thinking about spot blitz for my LT but I don't know if I trust the AI. The majority of the time he gets locked up with the DE. Would hate to see him pass up the end to help out with the guard on a blitzing LB.

I went for first step, purely because 90% of the time he gives up a sack is due to being beaten off the snap and around the outside by a DE. I don't think he has ever been beaten inside and has never been Pancaked by a DE!
